“I don’t even know which robe you’re talking about.” Ed tries, looking too distracted to even try finishing getting dressed.
“The one you sleep in every night?” Stede spreads his hand over Ed’s chest, scraping feather-light with his nails over his skin.
“Not ringing a bell.” Ed says distantly. A mischievous look crosses his face. “Hey, do you think we have time to—”
He’s interrupted by an echoing bellow from outside the door. “Stede! We can’t find any shells for the mermaid bra!”
Stede sighs. “I better sort this.”

Summary
They all gather around to look once it’s done, erupting into cheers and clapping Stede on the back and shoulders. He ducks his head, a bit shy.
“I’d give it a few days, wait until it heals a bit to show him.” Wee John says, sounding oddly choked up. “Make it the perfect moment.”
“Light some candles.” Frenchie suggests.
“Wear a robe and nothing else and tell him to unwrap his gift.” Lucius suggests, cackling at the look on Stede's face.
“I’ll know when the time is right.” Stede decides, tracing a finger over the delicate raised artwork in the mirror and hoping with everything in him that Ed likes it.

Summary
“Lucius? What are you doing?” Jim whispers, nudging him. Lucius is staring at the storm out the window like he’s looking at the Kraken itself.
“Its…It’s fucking Stede Bonnet!”
Ed’s eyes widen the slightest bit, his head jerking like he has to forcibly keep himself from looking out the window. “Yeah, like I’ll fall for that one—”
“Oh my god.” Jim says, leaning closer. “Is that Oluwande?”
“And Pete!” Lucius says, covering his mouth. “Okay, I need to raincheck on the whole mutiny thing, guys, sorry—jesus—" he's gone in seconds.
Jim hands Ivan the gun. “Yeah, you guys have him handled, right? I need to—” They run after Lucius.
Unable to hold himself back anymore, Ed turns to look at the window, a look of intense pain crossing his features for only a second. “Bonnet, you fucking idiot.” He breathes quietly, nose pressed to the glass.

Summary

Ed rolls his eyes. "Yeah, and there's never a wrong time to open up the gates of hell."
Stede levels him with a look. "A bit dramatic, don't you think?"
Ed heaves a sigh. "If you sleep now, I'll regale you with all kinds of exciting stories about my charmed fucking childhood when you wake up, alright?"
Stede grins, laying back down. "Deal."

There'd be the drag of a lace cuff, the soft pliancy of Stede's fingertips on his hand or in his hair. He could feel it through his clothes, sometimes, a phantom press against his arm or shoulder or heart long after Stede had lowered his hand. He didn't know what to do with so much sensation, a tide of its own, one that made him afraid to open his mouth and let the water in, almost certain he'd drown.
