Shane jumps, no longer tired, and nearly knocks his head against Ilya’s. “From fucking me?”
“Shane, moya lyubov, no. Never. I will be on my deathbed still fucking you. I will die inside you.”
Shane’s nose crinkles. “Maybe we don’t make that a reality.”
“What are you saying? You will not want my old, dying dick? What kind of husband are you!”
“That’s not—“ Shane shakes his head. “Don’t distract me. What are you retiring from?”
“I fuck you so good, your brain no longer works?” Ilya chirps, gently rapping his knuckles against Shane’s head. “Hockey, Shane. I am retiring from hockey.”
Shane closes his eyes and drops his voice, “I’m not ready. Not yet.”
“I know, sweetheart. I am not asking you to retire with me. Never. You play for as long as you want, and I become sexiest WAG in history.”

The room felt too bright.
Shane had thought that hours ago, and the thought kept circling back, hazy and unfocused between contractions. The hospital lights glared off the white ceiling, off the metal rails of the bed, off the stainless tray waiting at the foot of it. Everything felt sharp and exposed. Everything except Ilya.
Ilya was the only steady thing in the room.
Another contraction began as a low tightening deep in Shane's abdomen. He felt it before the monitor reacted, before the midwife even glanced at the screen. His breath caught."Oh—" It was barely more than a whisper.
Ilya was at his side instantly, fingers lacing with Shane's. "It's starting?" he asked softly.
Shane nodded, already reaching for the gas and air mouthpiece. His hands were shaking. He pressed it to his lips and inhaled deeply.Or a Hollanov Girl dad fic full of love and happiness. Shane realises that his fears do not make him weak!!!!

“I’m coming to the cottage.”
Shane’s heart stops beating. Everything goes blank. “Shane?”
Shane realizes he hasn’t said anything for an awkwardly long period of time. He clears his throat and tries to remember any words in any language. “When?”
“When do you want me?” Ilya’s voice is soft and rumbly, hesitant in a way that Shane isn’t used to hearing from the usually confident alpha. Shane can’t believe his ears.
Always, his traitorous mind supplies. I want you always. “Next week?” he says instead. He’d planned to have his heat in July, but with a ticking doomsday clock looming over Shane, he’s not sure he can wait that long. Even if it means telling Ilya the truth. Even if it means Ilya leaves him for good. All he knows is he needs to see Ilya as soon as possible, hold him in his arms and fill his lungs with his scent.
Ilya releases a breath. “Okay. Next week.”

Shane blinked. Pregnant? There was no way.
He knew he was a carrier, but he’d always been so careful about birth control and condoms. Militant about it, in fact. His hand drifted down to his stomach. Shane had been feeling nauseous lately, and maybe a little tired, but he’d chalked it up to too much training. The few pounds he’d put on were written off as a result of sneaking one too many Snickers bars when he was stressed.
“That’s–that can’t be right,” Shane said, shaking his head. He felt bile rise up in his throat again, and covered his mouth. Dr. Jackson quickly reached into a cabinet and handed him a blue bag, which Shane then proceeded to empty the contents of his stomach into.
