Once he was free of the heavy gear he made his way to the kitchenette. He was hungry. He opened his cupboards in the hope of finding one last packet of powdered alfredo mix. There was none to be found, just a few cups of instant noodles and a few bottles of meal replacement.
Great, It was another night of noodles and vitamins in a bottle.
You’d think the hunters guild would pay better with how dangerous the work was, but no. No, they did not. They used the low pay to drag in the truly desperate into fighting on the front lines. That or they would take in orphaned children such as River… give them a ‘purpose’ as they would say.

Summary
The sun began to descend when Noah arrived at the grand building. Despite the manor being abandoned for over ten years the place was still in decent condition. Only a few windows were boarded up, ivy covering most of the walls in the summer and fall.
He slowed his pace coming to a full stop in the old courtyard.
Overgrown vegetation covered the walkways. Sure it was dead in the winter but the thorns still remained.
Noah shivered in the cold before Looking up at the building, glancing through a window. He could see why the townsfolk stayed away from the place. It was creepy, it felt like he was being watched.
The place was like one of those houses in horror movies. With a killer waiting inside.
His life would truly become one if his father found him.

The tight grip around Lucan’s throat lessened.
A second passed, then two, then…
The man’s smile returned, with no attempt to hide his smug look.
“Oh, this is too good to be true!” His voice was full of glee, lowering Lucan enough so that his toes could touch the floor. The college student gasped for air, taking in all the fresh oxygen he could. Laughter rang through the air like a bell tolled over a funeral. “The gods truly work in my favour, daring to return you!” He shouted with pure bliss.

“So, if you could, you’d pick a different occupation?” Another question slipped past his mentor's lips.
“I mean, I guess? I don’t know what else I’m good at…” Aiden scowled at his cup. “But unlike some lucky bastard I know, I won’t get a choice,” He explained further, chuckling a little when Llewelyn lightheartedly huffed.
It was then that vertigo hit him, his stomach doing several flips as he lost all sense of direction. He heard something shatter on the stone tiles. He went to look but his body wouldn’t respond to him. As he began to fall over, the realization dawned on him that he couldn’t feel his hands, let alone the rest of his body.

Summary
The King is ill and must step down from his throne. In order to do so, he must pass his crown to the next heir; his youngest son, who must pass the trial so he can earn it. However, an unfortunate series of events leads the little prince into failing, and even being tricked into near death.
Now shunned, the Prince must find a way to earn his honour back by slaying monsters throughout the Kingdom. However, by doing this, he must cut down monsters with a blade that acts as a double edged sword; as he kills, he collects the souls within his sword, which becomes part of him.
It’s the duty of a Prince to become a King; is that what this story will be about?
