Summary
The fog comes back.
Nothing else has found its way into their safe little haven yet, but the fog does, creeping through the cracks of their cabin, blanketing them in thick, heavy billows.
Jon is there every time, he's there to pull Martin back when he gets lost, bleary eyes and hands so transparent Jon's fingers glide right through when he reaches for them.
"Martin", he says, forcing a shaky smile on his lips as he tries to hold onto the warmth Martin's name elicits in him. "Martin? Come on. Come back to me."
"Jon?" His name echoes, the mist thickening.
"Yes", Jon says emphatically. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere without you. You're not alone anymore, Martin, remember?"
Martin blinks, something sparking up in his eyes, but the cold fog sets heavily around them, blurring Jon's vision.
"No!" Jon reaches out, won't let himself lose sight of Martin ever again, he won't let him slip away. "No, you can't have him!" he yells into the cold white all around. "He's not yours to claim!"

Or, the one where Jon and Martin try to find what happiness they can, despite the Lonely looming, the Eye watching, and their own doubts weighing them down.

Rumi lets out a strained groan, dragging her palm across her face. “Because I’ve been trying to manage being student body president—which mind you is hard in college—and trying to balance it with being a business major. I can’t spend after school hours doing some one-on-one study session with some random student—"
“Which is exactly why you need to do this. To prove to the student body that you can balance things out” Bobby interjects, making sure to put emphasis on his words. “Mira—”
Mira? THE Jeong Mira? The fucking physics major who won’t stop bothering her? Rumi wants to say out loud, to follow it by a scream. But she remains still, a slight smile on her lips. Because she couldn’t let Bobby or anyone really, know about how much Mira affects her.

Too bad Mira’s and Zoey’s curiosity wasn't a thing she could dodge forever. Now, there are awkward stares, accidental sparring matches, competitive flirting (that none of them admit is flirting), and one growing problem:

Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”
