Summary
“Hand over the sapphires.” With his free hand, Jinu points a finger at Abby’s fist withholding the stolen goods.
“Who the fuck do you think you are?” Abby sends Jinu a mean glare. “I stole them fair and square.”
Jinu’s brows furrow. If anything, he seems more confused than angry.
“I’m not giving them to you.” Abby scoffs. “You’ll have better luck trying to pry them out of my cold, dead hands, prick.”
In Abby’s peripheral vision, he sees Romance wince.
Meanwhile, Jinu only stares. “Are you new here?” he asks. There’s no malice or condescension in his tone—only mild inquisitiveness.
Abby laughs. It comes out awkward and forceful. “No.”
How the hell did this guy know?
(Or: A glimpse into Abby's time in the Underworld and his relationship with Jinu as they slowly get used to each other's company.)

Summary
It was only when they returned home that Jinu fully opened the case. He brushed aside the residue of dust, admired the gleaming, varnished wood case. Then he opened it.
It was a bipa, plump and delicate. Its pear shape was more pronounced now, a gentle slope to its shape that had Jinu running reverent fingers along the wood. Jinu gave the strings a tentative strum and the bipa answered, sound rich and full. He smiled. His heart somehow felt lighter. The bipa’s body seemed to glisten under the evening light, breathing at Jinu to lean closer, and closer still. Do you love? it whispered. What will you do to leave, Jinu? Do you love?
Here was Jinu’s salvation, his exit ticket from poverty.
Or: 5 times Jinu falls in love.

Summary
Rumi watched as the figure, adorned in his black hanbok and gat, descended from above like an angel of death. Jinu. There was no mistaking it. It was actually him. It was clear he was in his demon form. She could see the glow of his golden eyes, looking right at her.
“Pray for me now…” The chanting increased. Loud and deep.
This wasn’t right.
Something was wrong.
Abruptly, like a puppet who had its strings cut, Jinu fell to the ground, landing harshly on the stage with a resounding thud.
The crowd screamed.

Summary
"I'm happy you're here, you know that?" Rumi says. "Not just for me, but for you. I'm really glad you got a second chance."
"I am too," Jinu whispers. "I would've died for you. I came so close—"
She kisses his knuckles again, eyes stinging a little. "I know."
He speaks in a rush, as if worried that she won't let him finish. "I'm glad I didn't. I like being alive. But—you gave me something so important, I didn't know any other way to give you something back. I didn't feel like I had anything worth giving, except my life, and my soul—I've spent so long just hating myself, wasting it, but if I could've given it to you—"
"Jinu," Rumi says, "Jinu."
"You gave me my soul back," he says wetly, squeezing her hand. "And now... I'm doing my best to take care of it."
Or: Rumi's demon heritage, Jinu's newfound soul, Zoey and Mira's love that now has a safe place to land. Everything is gentle, and everyone lives.

Summary
Jinu has been Gwi-Ma's slave for centuries.
A pet, equally tortured and prized. He doubted he'd ever be let out of his cage.
Until the day he finds himself offered up as a gift—tribute, bribe, trap—to the demon lord's heir, a Hunter-raised half-blood demon called Rumi who hates him and what he represents on-sight. He half-expects her to send him back to the Underworld in pieces.
Rumi sees his presence as a death sentence for her. It's becoming hard enough to hide her patterns from Mira and Zoe. How is she supposed to hide a demon-gift sent by the demon lord of the Underworld?
He's clearly a trap, one that leaves her with no good choices. Every subsequent decision seems to magnify her patterns and drag her deeper into her demon heritage.
What to do? Hide him? Kill him? Contain him? Or...help him?
Could a demon with no feelings really deserve her help? Or is there more to it than she's been led to believe? And is trying to find out really worth the risk to Rumi, her friends, and the Honmoon?

Summary
Is he one of her students' guardians? Or maybe an older brother? Rumi knows she's never seen this man before because she sure as hell would've remembered a face as gorgeous as this.
“Hi,” he greets, bowing deeply. “I’m Jinu. My sister's kind of shy, but she loves to sing, so I wanted her to have a good teacher.”
Oh. So not one of her students. Yet.
Or, Rumi, Jinu, and the life that waits just beyond the once-severed thread of fate.

Summary
No one remembers what happened during “Your Idol.”
The screams, the fire, the stage collapsing into demonic chaos and hypnotized humans, erased from memory like it never existed.
But Jinu remembers. The Saja Boys remember.
They survived the final battle against Gwi Ma, but survival came with a cost: Jinu is now Demon King, bound to the throne once ruled by the monster who made him. The glamours and forget-spells hide their truth from the world, but the scars remain, visible only in glimpses, in music, in nightmares.
Now, split between two worlds, the glamour of K-pop stardom and the shadows of the demon realm, the boys must redefine what it means to live freely, to feel, to heal. Jinu holds power beyond imagination, but with it comes haunting memories, and secrets even his closest brothers don’t fully know.
They sing. They fight. They keep the balance.
Because the Afterlight isn’t peace. It’s what you make of what remains.

Summary
—JINU! Oh my god, you're—you’re alive, you're alive —she cried, hugging him with tears still in her eyes, feeling the demon boy hug her back.—B-but how? You… you were fading away.
Jinu wiped away his tears with the same faint smile, then tried to say something.
But no voice came out.
Jinu brought his hands to his throat, his expression barely comprehensible. His yellow eyes looked at her, then at the ground. Rumi didn’t understand why the demon boy looked so afraid. He opened and closed his mouth again and again, trying to make something come out.
But nothing did.
Not a sound.
Not a single word.

Summary
A rustling sound put her instantly on guard, her fingers moving instinctively backward, ready to pull her weapon from the air, before a low moan softly rent the air. Rumi’s breath caught in her throat, and a moment later she was on her knees next to the garbage, peering into the darkness and finding more than the shadows this time.
There was a face - if it could be called that - disfigured and mangled as it was with streaks of lighting rending themselves across the skin. But if hers had been unsightly burns, the patterns on this face seemed carved and rotting deep into the skin, the smell of decay clinging to the surrounding air.
It was another low moan that snapped her out of the moment of instinctive horror as the eyes cracked slowly open. They were hazy, delirium clouding them with a glassy sheen that approaching death. But they were familiar all the same.
Rumi’s throat nearly refused passaged to the single word she breathed.

Summary
“I thought you weren’t ashamed of them anymore.”
Rumi eyes Jinu in the mirror, scowling. “I’m not. It’s just… weird to have them out all the time.”
Jinu, who also has his patterns out all the time and once called them a constant reminder of my shame, shrugs where he’s leaning against the open door frame. “So cover them up.”
“I just—wouldn’t that make me a hypocrite? I sing this huge song about friendship and loving myself and then I go right back to being scared to show my bare arms in front of my two closest friends. It’s ridiculous. I’m ridiculous.”
“Your words, not mine.”
Or: Living is harder than dying. Jinu and Rumi move forward.
