With crime returning to the streets of New York and new powers awakened after the battle, Donnie felt something was wrong. Not just with his powers but with his family. There was something out there. Lurking, observing, hunting them. His family was in danger once again but this time he wouldn't allow anything or anyone to harm them. He would keep them safe.

So of course the universe has to rip it all away from him and dump him far from home with a quintet of turtles who are so very different than his brothers. Somehow, Donnie has to find a way to get back home, but not before he learns some very important things about himself.
OR: the robot Donnie from the Apocalypse episodes of TMNT 2012 finds himself in the Rise universe.

Previously titled The Evil Third Eye has Pinkeye.
It starts about as slice-of-life as they come. The extended Hamato family prepares with hopeful optimism for a this time more peaceful dinner with Baron Draxum. Then Splinter is kidnapped by some yokai and it all goes to shit.
With a wrench quickly thrown in their plans, the turtles, April, and the Baron scramble to come up with a course of action to save the family patriarch, which almost immediately results in everyone being split up and facing their own unique challenges. A new evil arisen within the Hidden City seems to have its own plans for the Hamato Clan.

As the stories usually go, somehow Leonardo is brought back in time to the present. Away from the Krang, the death, the horror of the potential future. The much older, battered and bruised turtle stared right into the eyes of what once was him and his brothers before finally collapsing from his open and untended wounds. With him went the brooch of purple and silver tech crushed under him and the hologram fizzled away. No more was it Leonardo laying faint on the floor, but in his steed was Donatello.

In a brief and more explained summary, Future!Donnie takes the place of Future!Leo and is sent back in time. Hence the brooch. No, he isn't stealing his brothers spot on the one-way ticket back to a normal life, matter of fact he didn’t want things to be this way. The universe sent him back in time to right his wrongs. How? He has to teach his younger self to live a little with a bit of help from his family along the way.

After Splinter announces that Leo is now the leader, everything quickly moves downhill. Raph won’t speak to Leo, Donnie snarks and pokes and prods at him and Mikey comforts the other two all while avoiding Leo, because apparently, he didn’t need help. They all……blamed him. He didn’t want this, he’d NEVER wanted this, but now it was his fault?! When he confronts Splinter about it, the old rat just waved him off, saying “You’ll get over it Blue, now MOVE, you’re blocking the TV!!!” which honestly made Leo realize how much Splinter had done that growing up, and that it probably wasn’t okay.
(Or)
Leo has enough and decides to leave. Que the Battle Nexus, Big Mama, Hueso, and getting to know Villains! What happens when, about four months later, Donnie makes a portal and brings through their alternates, but realizes he needs Leo’s help? Chaos!
