Timothy had been but an enemy, someone to eliminate and subjugate. And yet, now Damian was the one close to surrender, admitting a defeat that was oh so bittersweet to his senses.
“It’s alright,” Timothy chirped then, looking flattered and apologetic at once. “It’s a normal crush, Damian, many kids of your age have them. You’ll grow out of it.”

It’s like pieces of a puzzle falling back into place as he looks through the smudged glass at Robin, bloodied and bruised, tied to a chair. In front of him stands the Joker, face split in a grin, crowbar in hand. Jason shudders. And he waits for Robin to do anything, to put on a cocky grin and say a quippy one-liner, to fight back. Robin hangs forward on the chair, still as the dead. The Joker’s awful, grinding laughter fills the warehouse, and Jason is suddenly fifteen and very afraid.
