the charmspeak pulls jason to the floor, and the force of his knees striking the marble travels up his body, though it doesn’t hurt. “fuck,” he breathes.
“pray.” there’s no charmspeak.
jason prays. he shuts his eyes, doesn’t think of anything in particular, but knows he’s praying, nonetheless. he realises, in that instant, that he did this earlier - that, in every thought of dark brown eyes and curly hair, staring into the face of grief and desire, he had prayed. pothos was right.

“No—” There’s a way that Jason’s hard eyes soften that makes him look a little sadder. His eyebrows knit together delicately, and he’s got the same nostalgic look on his face that Thalia had earlier in the praetor’s office. Except it’s directed at Nico. “I knew your sister. Bianca."
Nico’s heart clenches in his chest. Percy’s usual mischievous smirk and lackadaisical eyes sober, and Thalia’s smile fades.
“We fought together in the war,” Jason says softly. “I’m so sorry, Nico—she died.”
It takes a moment for Nico to process the words. He looks at those rich, oily eyes that are suddenly sweet and tender. They stare back at him like they’ve known him for years. Thalia and Percy are both leaning in, evidently trying to gauge his reaction—but honestly, Nico’s just confused.
“Yeah,” Nico says slowly. “And?”

Then she heard something from Festus. A series of clicks and whistles that echoed through the still air. She frowned up at the ceiling. She knew Festus and Leo talked to one another with Morse, but the dragon never really communicated directly with her or Jason like that. “Festus? What’s wrong?”
SOS. LEO. TOP DECK.
Piper felt the blood drain from her face. “Keep an eye on him for me!” she ordered the empty room before leaping to her feet and tearing down the hall. Her heart was thrumming soi fast and high in the back of her throat, but she didn’t have time to worry about that.
She stumbled onto the deck, eyes wild, expecting to see swarms of Romans with wings sprouting from their backs swooping and attacking her crewmates. Instead, what she saw was Leo, eyes so wide that she could see the red-rimmed whites, plastered against the main mast with terror etched onto every one of his pale features. Percy Jackson was standing right in front of him, his hands fisted in the front of Leo’s shirt and their faces uncomfortably close. He was very obviously shouting something at Leo, but the blood was roaring in Piper’s ears far too loud for her to hear.

“I'm sorry, but I don't know who either of you are,” Jason admitted. “I—I'm not even really sure who I am.”

JASON is in over his head. He wakes up on a bus with amnesia, gets attacked by monsters and then told to go on a quest armed only with a boy who thinks they're friends, a girl who hates him, and a coin that randomly turns into a spear.
PIPER is keeping secrets. She's been having dreams about her dad being in trouble, and now she has to go on a quest she's doomed to betray to keep her best friend safe from some guy who's possibly the cause of all her problems
LEO is honestly just confused. He's spent his life rolling with the punches, but now he's learning that gods and monsters are real and he's gearing up to go on a quest with his two best friends who want each other dead.

Summary
Thoma feels hands on his shoulders, around his waist, lifting him up, up and onto the shore. There's buzzing in his ears.
Someone is talking. He should probably respond. When he opens his eyes he finds himself face to face with wooden sandals, but closely behind them, surrounded by soldiers, he can make out a pair of bright violet eyes, watching him.
The man above attempts to ask him something, and despite the past year of constant learning and studying, Thoma understands only the most basic of words that are being pointed at him.
“─are you? Where…come from? Are you…? Say…why… you here?”
He can barely think, his eyes are growing more and more tired, nearly fluttering shut. Weakness grips him by the throat, constricting his lungs and immobilizing his limbs, making it impossible to do anything. Moments before he passes out, with the old man’s bewildered eyes on him, he licks his lips, gathering the last remnants of his strength to whisper.
Why is he here? Only one reason exists.
“Father…”
Thoma has been chasing after a stranger all his life.
