Summary
When Greg was told to move out of City for his health, he would assume it would get better living in the English Countryside away from people commuting to the city to write his shows all fine and good and exactly what the doctor ordered especially with his blood pressure spiked. As his mental health continued to take a dive living in a big city, a special isolation that came with being famous in a large city. Too caught up in the flow of being famous. The cottage was nice. Worn and taken care of at the very least, and warm and cozy in a way living in a small London apartment never really is.
It was a warm and cozy cottage. Lived and full of life. Everything about it was perfect, and the drive wasn't too bad. Especially when he was only making it twice a week after he adjusted his work schedule. The only problem that truly came from living outside the city wasn't the lack of access to resources or people.
It was the fact that when Greg had been sold the property; the seller had known that there was an imp on the land and had not informed Greg upon his purchase.

Summary
Israel Hands is normally a smart man. Not just a smart man, he's a very capable man. He makes plans, and he follows them through, and rarely does he ever suffer the consequences of anything he does in life. Hands hasn't been in control of his own life for a long time. He wants it this way. He still does, despite everything, the power and losing control that comes from being someone's most devoted worshipper.
He knows there are very few people who bow and pray the way he does. Covered in blood and sinew and viscera, he is wonderfully devout. His God is not only a blood God, but one who is tyrannical, has always been and will always be. Gods aren't supposed to change when you pray to them. They stay stagnant in their values they give to the world because they are supposed to be reflections of humanity. Izzy knows this. He's always known this when he'd picked Ed to pray to Ed with everything he'd wanted and more.
In this world, you have to pick your gods. Ed was one of the best of the worst.

Summary
Ed said that he wanted to see fear on Stede’s face. He was under the assumption it would make him feel better.
Stede had left Ed small and broken. If he looked as destroyed as Ed was then that cruel part would have been satisfied.
That's all he wanted. Holding the gun at Stede should have done that. A sword would give Stede the impression that he was welcomed back. He wasn't without groveling first.

Summary
The thing he found himself missing was the closeness. Sure he was on a ship full of people in close quarters, no one was ever alone. Still physically Stede missed the touch of sharing a bed at night. Or having to pretend at events that he holds Mary close out of the public eye.
It’s the warmth he misses. Even in the Caribbean sun, human warmth was something Stede was deeply unfamiliar with. His mom never hugged him, his father rarely touched him and if he did it was to punish.
