“Who’s first?” Jack asked.
“Jimmy,” Amelia replied instantly, and he whipped around.
“Amelia, no,” he started, but she shook her head.
“It has to be you, love. You should go first. I’ll come right after, okay? I promise.” Her eyes continued to plead with him, even as her mouth was set. She was serious.
Jimmy sighed, and squeezed his wife’s hand. He brought it up to his lips and kissed it, and she grabbed his neck to pull him forward, resting her forehead against it. “Okay, he breathed. Then, to the room, “Okay.”
Jack nodded again, mostly to himself. “Alright. Deep breath,” he said, and before Jimmy could ask what that meant, he felt all the wind get knocked out of him as his vision bled away. It was dark for a few terrifying seconds, and Jimmy felt like he couldn’t breathe or move, and then he was falling to his knees on wet grass, gasping for air and dry heaving.
Earth. He was on Earth. And he was alive.

Like, actually. He very nearly loses balance for no reason at all and tumbles to the sidewalk next to his car. He’s been playing Aziraphale’s voice in his head for weeks, he’s been trying very hard to drown out the sound of it, in fact, and now suddenly, abruptly—
“What are you doing here,” is all he can think to say. He whirls around, and there he is. On Crowley’s right, standing there like he’d never left. Where he belongs, Crowley’s mind helpfully supplies. He wishes he could punch himself in the brain, knock the thoughts right on out of there.

As the blade pierces him, Ed thinks in a moment of seeming delirium that any sane man’s natural defenses would crumble to sand if a star was plucked directly from the sky and given to him wrapped in silk and cashmere, ever-glowing and warm. (It’s a miracle the world hasn’t caught up enough to fall in love with Stede yet. Selfishly, he’s glad for it.)

Summary
The sword came free with a sickening pop; or, rather, Stede came free. His knees gave out as soon as he left the blade behind, still stuck to the mast. He fell forward, stumbled, and was immediately caught by two strong, well-muscled arms.
