He liked Stede. Not just as a friend, or a crewmate. He liked Stede, with an inflection on that second word that belonged to brainless youths kissing behind the stables, not pirate captains with bad knees and more salt than pepper in their beards.
It would be so much better if he was just attracted to Stede. That was normal. That was manageable. You just made a move and got it out of your system. If you were turned down, well, you moved on. Easy. But he didn’t just want to sleep with Stede. (And he definitely wanted to sleep with Stede.) What he wanted was so much weirder.
Ed has a crush on Stede Bonnet and it is sooo embarrassing.

After that Xichen puts Shuoyue away, set respectfully on one of the few bare shelves inside. He keeps Hensheng with him. A spiral of cold light around his forearm. A belt of clear water at his waist.
Lan forms are not much use with the soft sword. Some of them can be adapted—he saw A-Yao do as much. But Xichen is long and lanky and strong. Hensheng is coiled and sharp and savage.
It expects something of Xichen. It is waiting.
In seclusion, Xichen picks up A-Yao's sword and slowly draws his ghost back into the world, into a body.

"No," Ed says. "Back off."
"Ah. Right, well, the thing is, I can't really do that, can I?"
Ed is no stranger to an affable threat, having delivered a few in his time, but it's still funny to hear from Stede. He can't help himself; he chuckles a little. "No?"
"Not really," Stede says, sounding almost apologetic. "Because we're both caught in the same current, see? And the dinghy's in the lee of the ship, so I don't think there's enough wind to get us out."

"Hey." Ed reaches across because it's the only thing that feels right. He grasps Stede's wrist and smoothes the pad of his thumb across his knuckles. Stede stops fiddling with his ring and looks up at him, wide-eyed. "This isn't Captain shit. This is God shit. Are you God?"
The room is blank with silence.
Gently, Ed repeats, "Are you God, Stede?"
Stede's voice is thin and high when he answers, "I'm not God."
"And is God here, in this room?"
Comically, Stede looks around like he might find God perched on the edge of his desk, or pulling books from his shelves to examine the spines.
"He's not," Stede concedes.
"That's right, mate. Stupid bugger doesn't associate himself with pirates."
Or: The Revenge has been becalmed for six days. Ed has bigger things to worry about, like sharks and being in love.

Skinned knees and split knuckles and nicks from his own sword, whoops, not to mention gruesome shiny ripples that had been dog teeth in his calf, and gouges across his left collarbone and thin lines from swords and knives and that one arrow from a wrestling match at one of the Meishan Yu cousin weddings when he’d accused somebody of cheating at archery, the Wen brand, and the short, thick, ugly worm of a scar straight down his center where he watched his core leave him.
Wei Wuxian’s body had been a topography of scars. This body—this new body, the physical form that had been Mo Xuanyu’s and through a twist of really strong terrible magic was his now—only had six scars. Four from the curse. One from Jin Ling. Now this one, this stupid little scar, because he tripped into a pile of scythes.
Wei Wuxian leaves Gusu and Lan Zhan, but alone out in the world without a mission, without a mystery to solve, he doesn't know what his purpose is anymore--and he needs one. So while he tries to find it, he starts recreating his old scars. Because he's good at making healthy choices.
