Summary
Will found it adorable how much Mike resembled a labrador in his behavior, moody, attentive, and loyal; almost like he was Will's guard dog. Will blushed at the thought as he took the bag from Mike and slung it over his shoulder. Their eyes found each other again, when Will was already in Dreamland, and he felt like an open book. He would have to defuse the situation before he threw himself into Mike's arms.
"Good boy." He joked, adjusting and fiddling with the strap on his shoulder. Will had to do his best to distract himself, and soothe his rampaging heart. But Mike didn't laugh, he moaned.
What?
Or, Will and Mike move into a duplex apartment together. Mike is like a clingy puppy, and Will learns how to use that to his advantage.

"Are we being weird?" Weird was a word that could mean anything. Were they being petty about not keeping contact, just not sure how to talk after school, or was Mike just hung up on Will being gay. Because Will was the gay one, Mike had to remind himself of that.
"Yeah I think so." His mind's eye wandered over to the box where he kept the stuff he didn't want his mom to see. Where he had kept the video tape, the magazine, and Will's yearbook photo. Mike had kept the one from his own yearbook, and now it was crumpled from how much he had held it the past few weeks. Mike was the one being weird, ruining their friendship.
"I'm sorry." Mike couldn't help his voice breaking a bit, and he let go of the button on his walkie before continuing. "I'm sorry for breaking the rules Will." He felt the need to make things up to Will, to fix their friendship before it got weird for real.
or: Mike has a set of rules: Will was allowed to be into guys, Mike wasn't. They were both absolutely not allowed to be into each other, that was just obvious. A perfect system of rules, if only he could follow even a single one.

Michael Robinavitch runs a tight ship at Pittsburgh's most crowded downtown restaubar: The Pitt. While it could never attain a Michelin star, this is the only place in the world where you can have a top-notch restaurant experience paired with a metropolitan bar. Dennis Whitaker has dumped his degree and life in Nebraska to work in the Pitt, and is faced with a three-story megaplex fitting over 800 guests total.
The only place with a higher workload would be an ER.
Or Dennis gets drunk at a staff party, and Robby tries to suppress his pining with more work. It goes sideways.

Summary
The Nanson boy was going home after this, for his own sake more than anything. He had a long walk there, and the rain might chill him to the bone, but he wouldn't be staying yet another night in Gunson's guest room. The boy had animals to tend to, and what few fallow fields he lived on.
Then, not long after the boy had disappeared out of the bar, a stranger entered. The door came open at his touch as if it ran away. The shadows grew longer, the candles dimmer, and Gunson felt a shiver run down his spine. The man was dressed in fine, yet drenched, rich man's attire. Fit for London or Liverpool, not for a bum village in the Cumbrian border to Scotland. There was no main road or reason to come here, unless you were related to a resident and forced to attend a wedding or christening.
The man moved with grace and in complete silence, Gunson could barely register that he moved until he was already at the counter. The man placed his right hand on the counter, and Gunson saw that his outer two fingers had long, sharp nails. Perfectly maintained and shaped to be symmetrically round and unassuming. These were not a working man's fingers, porcelain in both texture and hue.

"It's just my opinion, Mike. I don't want to change it, it was the perfect moment for it." Will didn't have to chase Mike's gaze much as he lowered his head, Mike's eyes naturally ended up where Will's were when he did that. Then to his lips, for a second. 'Fuck you, Mike Wheeler'
"What? What did I say now?" The moment broke in genuine confusion. Will realized his inside thought must have slipped out, or shown on his face. Will had spent enough time contemplating whether to kiss Mike over the years and it had rubbed off. If they got close, one of them was bound to do that thing with their eyes.
"Nothing, just... forget I said anything, alright? I was just pushing your buttons."
...Or, Mike thinks they're flirting, Will fails miserably at getting over Mike, and they are getting scarily good at figuring out what the other is thinking.

The Dragon and Matchlock is a head canon of the Personal Story of my OC characters Brjótarfrid and Almbjörn Sigurdsson. It's part of a three-part take on the original game's story.
