Summary
Marinette came to Gotham for a change. Tim was over the day before school had even started.
Three months later and Marinette cursed the fact that all her luck as Ladybug was spent solely on the heroism side. She had made some tentative friendships with a few of her classmates and even spent time after school with several of them at the arcade or in study groups.
Even her grades were doing well despite the language transition and her anxiety over not mastering English before beginning. She still struggled with slang words and the seemingly endless homophones and exceptions.
Coffee boy, as she had dubbed him in her mind, had not only outright refused her truce coffee, but continued to give her suspicious glances and watched her like a hawk during lunch. It was awkward and uncomfortable and it pissed. her. off.

Ladybug strolled out of the tube and shook off the weird feeling of her atoms being spaced and put back together again. Even in a magically created suit, she couldn't get away from the feeling. It was just easier to shake off.
She found her target 30 minutes later after getting turned around in the sparring wing. She had only come to the tower twice before and both times she had a guide so sue her.
A mischievous grin spread across her face as she noticed that he was facing away from her, snarking at Nightwing. She put a finger up to her lips as she noticed Nightwings head tilt in her direction. It was really really hard for Ladybug not to snicker as the man in black and blue grinned and said something that caused her target to flail his arms in outrage and shout.
“…uncivilized swine….slander…i swear…”

Marinette landed heavily into her apartment and dropped the transformation as she collapsed onto her bed. The woman was not sure how she made it home; the race across the Gotham rooftops was a blur of motion and memories. She knew that Gotham has some strange rogues but she had no idea how traumatic and PTSD-inducing having a run-in with a man in a pig mask could be.

He understood how easy it could be to let your mind tear every little mistake apart to criticize yourself, mercilessly. Flaws quickly turn into massive canyons that feel like no one could possibly cross to get to you. That they couldn’t possibly love you enough to make the hard journey through the thorns of your self-deprecation. The drought of inspiration. Lost to depression. To the deep places where the light rarely shines, for if there is no light then no one, not even yourself, can see all the cracks and breaks that you feel are obviously there. -
