Summary
Over the past few months, Mike had grown. Jesus, had he grown.
Taller. His shoulders had filled out. His jaw sharper now, more defined. His hands bigger too. God.
Will couldn’t stop noticing.
Couldn’t stop staring when no one was looking.
—
Or Will presented as an Omega. The only male Omega in Hawkins, Indiana.
This changes things.

Summary
Will raised his fist once more and again brought it down hard against his face, with strength his friend would normally never possess. Pain blinded him for a moment and he could feel his left eye going swollen in what would definitely turn into a nasty bruise, the coppery flavour of blood resting on his tongue. But still, he let himself be complacent, limp in his friend’s grip, not making any moves to push Will off him, to try and fight back, to try and do anything but look into his eyes and talk. He couldn’t do that to Will. He couldn’t hurt him in any way, even when he was in this state.
Will’s powers come at a cost — they make the hivemind leak deeper into him, causing him to slip further under Vecna’s hold. Mike is the first to notice. And when Will loses control completely, and everyone else flees in terror, Mike is the only one who stays, determined to bring him back.

Summary
“Does he take care of you?” He asked softly, almost whispering. Like he was genuinely curious. But there was something else entirely there too.
“What do you care?” Will turned his head away then slouched into himself. He tried to shake Mike’s hand away from his waist but Mike’s hold only got stronger.
“I don’t.” Liar.
“It sure sounds like it.”

Summary
“Will?” Mike whispers. “What—” he trails off. Dustin and the others are shouting over the walkie, all their voices overlapping in panic, but Mike’s only listening to Will.
“Use it on me.”
Will shifts on his knees, his grip on Mike’s arm tightening like he knows Mike is dying to run. He places the knife into Mike’s hand.
“At the military zone, I felt like I was burning when they hurt it. It has to work the other way around, right? It’s a hivemind. If you hurt me, it should weaken all of them.”
Or: in a moment of panic, Will convinces Mike to hurt him to save the Party. In another moment of panic, Mike kisses him to keep him conscious.

Summary
“Whoa, hey, just lie back.” Will scoots up so he can push Mike’s shoulders. Mike crumples with barely any effort, elbows giving out. Will catches the back of his head and sets it carefully on a child sized mattress that’s been here since 1983. The first time. Will shivers.
“You cold?” Mike asks, lulling his head to look at Will. His lids are drooping; he’s clearly struggling to stay conscious, yet still somehow has the capacity to catch Will shivering. Jesus. He’s so. Just so.
In the aftermath of the painting fight, Will gets taken. Mike rescues him, and they narrowly escape Vecna’s lair at a cost: Mike is injured. And it could get much worse if Will doesn’t figure something out fast.

Summary
Mike is the most infuriating, confusing, selfless, wonderful person Will has ever known. He tries not to latch on to small moments like this. Tries to tell himself that things between Mike and him just aren’t like that—especially when his actual, real life boyfriend is currently sitting across the table from them. But then why does Mike do these things? He has to know what Will thinks of him. He has to.
Will thinks now is a good time to introduce his best friend and boyfriend. Mike disagrees.

Summary
At first, Mike was unsure how to approach him when he got like this. But they’ve been living together for months now, never further than five feet apart in their dorm beds, so Mike’s learned what works and what doesn’t.
It works when he wakes Will like this, with gentle hands and words, telling him he’s safe. It works when he climbs into Will’s warm bed, turning him on his side and curling up against his back, an arm over his waist and his cheek pressed against his shoulder. They lie together like that until Will’s hiccupping gasps soften into steady breaths, until Mike feels him go limp in his arms and he knows he’s fallen back asleep. It always works.
or: Will has nightmares and Mike is the only one who can console him. Not even Will's boyfriend can. Mike takes great pride in this fact.

Summary
"You disappeared for a year, you- you disappeared Mike, you treated me like I'm some stranger and you show up at my door, drunk out of your ass, and expect me to what? Just... welcome you back like nothing happened?"
Mike blinks, caught off guard, his expression flickering between guilt and something deeper. "I- I didn't mean-" he starts, but Will cuts him off, anger and hurt mixing in his tone.
"No! Don't 'didn't mean' me, Mike. You left. You disappeared, didn't call, didn't write." Will repeats, the tears finally streaming down his cheeks, which he wipes almost instantly, like they burn him. "Mike, people cared about you... I cared about you! And you just... vanished. Do you have any idea what that did to me?"

Summary
"Damn, why are you defending him, Wheeler?" one boy sneered, the curl of his mouth sharp enough to make Mike’s fists itch.
Another voice followed, cruel and amused. "What are you, his boyfriend?"
Will’s lungs tightened, but for the first time today, it wasn’t from a hit. He forced himself to breathe. One inhale. One exhale. Just enough to lift his head.
He saw Mike then, standing between him and the others, shoulders tense, hands clenched, face flushed, eyes burning. Even the wind seemed to still.
The question hung in the air, ugly and mocking, and something stirred inside Will, something he hadn’t known existed.
Mike didn’t answer right away. He just stood there, shaking, staring back at them like he might break or explode. Then, without thinking, eyes burning and voice quavering, he spat back, "And if I were?"
Or
Nothing ever truly returned to normal for Will. The Upside Down still lingered inside him, muting his voice and stirring a desire he would not allow himself to feel.
Despite everything, he tried to keep Mike at a distance, but it was useless. When he faltered, Mike stepped closer anyway, drawn by something neither of them fully understood.Bookmarked by Typescripts

Summary
I wrote this at like 3:00am based on a dream I had. So.
.Mike was touchy, it was just in his nature.
Maybe that's why, when Mike reached out, hands cupping his own, leaning in close, a murmur of “I miss you, Will. I miss us,” all Will did was squeeze back, the way he always had.
It started off the same as always, something unintentional that Will could brush off, accident touches that slowly grew into something friendly, platonic, normal. The occasional nudge of an elbow to his side, a long look and a hand reaching out to grip his shoulder. Simple. Friendly.
But now?
Now Mike couldn't seem to be able to keep his hands off of him.
It was driving Will crazy.

Summary
Will misses the Mike he used to know.
He misses when it was just the two of them. When they were free and inseparable and when they were astronauts and adventurers and pirates and the paladin and the sorcerer. When he was Mike's prince, and Mike was his knight in shining armour.
Will misses his Mike.

Summary
“You know exactly what I mean, Mike.” Will snaps, turning back around. He continues walking away from the front door—away from Mike—his pace increasing as he tugs his creaky old bike along with him.
“No, actually, apparently I don’t know anything anymore!” Mike jolts forwards, following Will—who has now left the cover of the porch and is being soaked in rainfall—and grabbing him by the shoulder. Will stops walking and turns around, but he flinches back as if Mike’s touch has burned him. Mike removes his hand. “I thought I knew that we were a team now; I thought I knew that things were good,” Mike continues, shivering and brushing his now wet hair from his forehead. “But here you are, telling me I’d like it if you were dead, trying to run away without even saying a word to me—do you know how that fucking feels?”

Summary
“When I said “He was just my Tammy,” I meant that I was looking for answers in somebody else. But all this time, I had all the answers. Once I realized that, I felt so free, it's like a could fly."
Mike knows he’ll never fly. Not like Will. Because even when they’re both on the brink of death, when there’s literally no one around to judge him, when the whole world they’re in is about to blow up into oblivion, ending a years-long nightmare, ending them with it, he struggles to say it. He could never say it under normal circumstances. But he has so, so many regrets.
“I’m so sorry, Will. I know it wasn’t that serious to you. Just a crush. But still, it must’ve sucked. I’m sorry I didn’t realize sooner.
“Mike, I already said, I’ve forgiven you.”
"I'm sorry about one more thing. I’m sorry that it was never just a stupid crush for me.”
Or
The plan works, only with one small hiccup: Will and Mike end up in the UD with the gate closed. Forced into honesty by a looming death and a literal ticking time bomb, they make sure they don't have any regrets.

Summary
“I wish you didn’t follow me,” Will finds himself murmuring. In the corner of his eye, he sees Mike turn his head towards his own.
“Will.” Mike tilts Will’s chin up softly, so they are looking right at each other, and Mike is looking at him with a look so soft and loving, it feels as if he might break.
“There is nowhere else I’d rather be right now,” he says, looking at Will dead in the eyes, and Will can see that he is absolutely serious.

A shape.Small.Still.
Mike’s heart lurched up into his throat, his body already moving before his mind could catch up. His feet skidded through the mud, his breath choking out of him in short, uneven gasps.
Will.
It was Will.
And he wasn’t moving.
A choked sound tore from his throat. His knees hit the ground hard, sending a sharp jolt of pain up his spine, but he didn’t care—didn’t feel it.

Mike let out a pained sob, pressing his forehead against Will’s as his held back tears began to stream uncontrollably. “No. No, it’s going to be okay Will. Please. Please just-”
“Please don’t go”, a shaky inhale, “Please, Will... I- I need you.”
Mike holds Will’s body impossibly closer to his own, as if their close proximity will delay his impending fate. His gentle touch wiping away Will’s tears, holding him with the pure love and adoration he had always refrained from showing him.

Summary
“Mike,” Will croaked, seizing his hands, his eyes and face white with fear. “Mike…I can’t guarantee this will stop Henry. But if I die – it will be refusing him the one thing he needs. He could give up. I don’t know, God – either way, I’m dying, now. No matter what you do, you can’t save me, Mike.”
“Will…”
Will wasn’t paranoid. Mike might be oblivious – but he could always read Will like an open book at times. And that’s why they were best friends.
Yet, Mike wanted more. More, more, more.
He only ever thinks about himself.
Will was serious this time – he was going to die. It was an inevitable fact. The sun rises in the east. The sky is blue.
