Summary
On their way back to Erid, Rocky and Grace discover a mysterious box. Upon opening it, the two discover some strange changes. Well, perhaps way more than strange.
Rocky finds a new marking on his arm similar to Grace's scar, and Grace finds markings similar to Rocky's on his arms and legs.
Rocky begins to dream and can easily wake from sleep, and Grace can stay up for much longer than a normal human should.
Grace starts seeing sound when it's too dark to properly see, and Rocky starts seeing pops of colour in his sound vision.
Neither can understand what's happening to them and how they're seemingly linked together, but they know there's nothing in the world that could tear them apart.
(TLDR: This fic will include almost everyone's favourite things! Rocky learns about how Grace got on the Hail Mary (Including Rocky witnessing the memory of Grace being sent on the Hail Mary)! Grace can survive in Rocky's atmosphere! Grace will live as long as Rocky! Rocky and Adrian reuinite and Adrian meets Grace! Rocky raises his carapace eagerly. “Human science explain why engines not work right, question?”
“Your engines are fine, Rock. It’s... a lot more complicated than that. Oh boy, where do I even start?”
I must have studied relativity in college, but I have no memory of learning it. Like all my other science knowledge, it’s just there in my brain. But knowing something and knowing how to teach it are two very different things.
I pace the room, glasses dangling from one ear while I mutter to myself and rake my fingers through my hair. After a minute, I turn to face Rocky and clap my hands together.
“Okay, Rocky. Can you tell me the speed of light?”

This was coming to a head, Robby simply strung along after his own barrage of emotions.
It was pitiful, to be thinking like this while being kissed stupid, hands skimming over warm skin. His heart was in his throat, stopping his breath. He needed to say something, say how tangible this emotion felt, a real, hulking thing that sat next to him in bed alone, that followed him around the ED, that sat heavy in his chest every time he was in Dennis’s orbit. How terrified he was. How mortifying this was, to be seen right through, exposed and vulnerable, his soft underbelly on full display. Robby’s head was spinning, mind clouded with vitriol, years and years of running, of waiting for the other shoe to drop. His mouth started to form the words, to push him away, to drop to his knees in prayer, the words that fell from his lips instead, was—
“I think I’m in love with you.”
His stupid, treacherous mouth.
