"Wake up," Stiles says, and places a kiss behind Derek's ear. "My birthday is over, and Halloween season has officially begun. I've booked the pumpkin patch for eleven."
Derek's happy, barely-awake rumbles abruptly stop, his body stiffening. He rolls over slowly, then blinks at Stiles, his eyes crusty with sleep. "What."
"Pumpkins, Derek," Stiles says. "We need to get there early or all the good ones will be gone. This house is huge, so we're probably going to need at least twenty to sufficiently decorate—"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Derek says, sitting up in bed suddenly, a look of abject horror on his face. "Who said anything about pumpkins, or decorating?"
"Uh, me," Stiles tells him, rolling his eyes. "There's only two weeks until Halloween. I want this place to look like Satan's grotto by the time we’re done with it. Realistically, how many pumpkins do you think you can carve in an afternoon. Eight? Ten?"

Or, the one where Stiles is stupidly excited for Halloween, and Derek...isn't. Oh, and they may accidentally adopt a cat to which Stiles is also stupidly excited, and Derek...isn't.

Of course, the transfer kid gets mentioned because transfers are rare, but the news isn’t that exciting. In fact, according to Laura, no one even seems to know his first name. The only thing anyone has really figured out about him is that he’s American. And that’s not exactly hard because he obviously has an accent.
The only thing Derek really knows is that, despite other reports, he seems quiet enough, prefers to work alone, and has the most amazing shade of amber eyes that Derek has ever seen.
Not that he’s looking. Obviously.
OR: A Harry Potter AU where Stiles is a Slytherin transfer student and Derek is the grumpy Gryffindor who falls in love with him.

“Now, Der-bear, don’t be rude,” Laura says.
Stiles looks up and grins, his tongue slipping through his teeth. “Yeah, Der-bear,” he says, eyes twinkling. “Don’t be rude.”
Derek sneers at him, and Laura bursts out laughing. “Oh, I think I’m going to like you,” she says. “Stiles, you say? I’m Laura, Derek’s sister. It’s simply wonderful to meet you. I trust that you’re taking care of my brother.”
“Definitely,” Stiles says. “I brighten his day with the products of my exploited, unpaid child labour.”
Laura gives Derek an admonishing look. Unpaid child labour is her Achilles heel. “Derek, this poor boy,” she says, and sweeps Stiles into her arms. Over her shoulder, Stiles winks at him, and then his eyes widen as he accidentally gets green paint on the back of Laura’s blazer.
Unfortunately, from that moment on Stiles and Laura are as thick as thieves. Derek just ends up with a dumbass green cat.
or, in which Derek is a passive-aggressive potter who makes plates, Scott is his newest hire and the one thing Derek hates more than Scott is Scott’s best friend.
