Summary
When five-year-old Jayce asks Santa Claus to bring him a boyfriend for Christmas, Santa tells him that it just won't be possible, not for years and years, thereby confirming Jayce's suspicions that Santa isn't real. A real Santa, he reasons, could do anything,, even bring Jayce's destined true love to him.
But perhaps young Jayce's heartbreak is premature, and perhaps Santa's Workshop is even weirder and more wonderful than Jayce could know. Twenty years later, he wakes up Christmas morning to find a man in his mother's kitchen who claims to be his boyfriend wish come true. Viktor was, he explains to Jayce, literally created to be Jayce's soulmate.
Which, Jayce realizes, means that Viktor had no choice in the matter.

Summary
Viktor survives Jinx's attack on Piltover's council, but his memories don't. He wakes up from the attack confused, hurt, with a mind void of memories, and with an extremely distressed (and pretty) counselor fretting over him and claiming he's Viktor's partner.
As he puzzles together the broken fragments of his being and how he fits into the seemingly equally broken world around him, he clings to the tether of his supposed partner, who seems to need Viktor just as much as Viktor needs him.

Summary
Jayce's life wasn't great, but it was good enough -- he had a job as an engineer at the trainyard, a little house in Piltover that he'd inherited from his parents, and a silver pocketwatch that had been a gift from Mel, the smuggler who was his friend and occasional fling. That all changed when his train was robbed and Jayce himself was taken for ransom. Chained to a bed in the clinic, Jayce is prepared to hate the doctor aiding and abetting his imprisonment, but he soon learns that not everything in the small mining town of Zaun is controlled by the criminal gang that makes its headquarters there.
As the only man in Zaun with any real medical training, Viktor has his hands full. If it isn't miners falling prey to old and failing equipment and an utter lack of regard for safety by the mine's owners, then it's the roughneck crew of criminals who keep the town running. There's got to be a better way to live, but Viktor is too exhausted and overworked to figure it out. He's definitely too busy for romance, and even if he had the time, it wouldn't be with the naive and annoying Piltie who's been dumped into his lap while the Eye and the Hound decide how to squeeze a ransom out of the man.

Viktor did not want to go to Piltover. He was from Zaun, Piltover’s sister city, but he was not going home. He was going there to be wed.

Summary

Summary
Jayce looks at Viktor, taking in the indecisiveness on his face, the tightness in his shoulders, the haunted look in his eyes that never quite goes away anymore. And something inside him clicks into place.
It's not that Viktor doesn’t want him.
It’s that Viktor doesn’t trust himself to want.
"Is that what you need, Viktor?" Jayce asks, eyes softening. "For someone to take the choice away from you? Because I can do that for you, if you'll let me. I can take control from here on out and you'll never to worry about anything else. Would you like that?"
Viktor's eyes are wide, lips parted from where his mouth has fallen open slightly, and for a moment, he seems speechless, but then he nods, a small, barely perceptible shake of his head that reveals more than enough of his longing. "Please."
After waking up in an unfamiliar timeline, Jayce and Viktor find it all too easy to fall into bed together instead of talking about their feelings. This, naturally, leads to consequences neither are prepared for.
Like unwittingly falling into a dom/sub dynamic, for example.

The voice was deep. A low, rumbling baritone that vibrated through the quiet barn. It wasn’t shouted, but the command in it was absolute.
Viktor froze, his bloody hands still hovering over the horse’s wound. He slowly turned his head.
Jayce stood in the doorway, silhouetted by the faint moonlight from outside. He was big. Imposingly so, with broad shoulders that seemed to fill the frame. He was holding a rifle, pointed unwaveringly at Viktor’s chest. Viktor’s eyes, adjusted to the dim light, could make out little else—just a large, powerful form and the glint of steel on the rifle’s barrel.
“This is private property,” he said, his voice calm but edged with steel. “You’re trespassing.”
Viktor’s mind raced. He could try to talk his way out, lie, threaten. But the rifle was very steady. And the man holding it… there was an aura of grounded, immovable strength about him. This wasn’t one of the panicked hired guns he was well used to fight for a living. This was different.
