Crosshair Se and his little sister, Omega, travel to the town of Pabu for a fresh start--a safe place for Omega to grow up. All he wants his peace and to be left alone. That flies out the window when he meets Hunter Fett and his brothers.
After this last cattle drive season, Hunter Fett and his brothers plan to skip the next season to stay at their home in Pabu for an extended period of time for the first time in ages. Julian has never had a reason to pop by his shop and say hello. Since the end of the occupation and new arrivals to the station, such as Starfleet and Garak, he's been helping the Bajorans, while also working at Quark's as a bartender to make a living to remain on the station.

“Let me go,” Hunter growls, wrenching away from Crosshair’s grip.
Crosshair doesn’t let him get far, catching him by the shoulder and slamming him against the wall, pinning him there bodily. “You’re not the only one who’s grieving, Hunter,” he snarls lowly, “It was my child, too.”
They may have lost their child, but Crosshair will be damned if he loses Hunter, too.

Though the pregnancy was an accident, Hunter didn’t regret it. How could he? He can’t deny what Crosshair means to him. But the child doesn’t make it, or so Nala Se tells him. Forcibly transitioned from omega to alpha, Hunter has to cope with his new designation as well as grief for the child he never got to know. And then the Empire forms and all his attempts at rebuilding something come crumbling down.
