“Steve opens his eyes to the sun streaming in, and just like that, the dream is gone. Torn away by the light permeating behind his eyelids, even as he groans and tries to go back to sleep, to chase the world where he and Eddie…
Steve pops up, sitting ramrod straight.
Where they had been…what? Best friends? Steve doesn’t think sending a year’s worth of locker notes and calling your friend “pretty” looks so strictly platonic, which only serves to make this new dream even weirder.
Eddie is…is his dead friend who was barely even a friend. His fists clench in his bedspread, and he fights against the lump that lodges in his throat as he tries to convince himself of that fact.
But their closeness, the way they had been with each other…it felt so real. It lingers, in a way that leaves Steve short of breath as it collides with reality, this world where Eddie is gone and was never his.
He lays back down, arm extending over the empty space in his bed. His fingers trace the absence of a body that was never there, and it wrenches a tight gasp from his lungs as he senses the phantom feeling of another hand in his.”

Eddie skims the backs of her fingers lightly down Stevie’s arm, delighting in the rolling wave of goosebumps and the barely audible hitch of breath. Stevie is still holding the joint. It’s smoldering in her hand, and the whole world seems to hold its breath.
Eddie makes the leap.
“Could I?” She asks, barely a whisper.
“Could you what?”
“Take care of you,” Eddie says, ducking down to press a slow kiss to Stevie’s shoulder, pausing to murmur against her skin. “Make you feel good.”

Summary
The way Steve Harrington burrowed into his heart wasn’t ordinary nor simple. Nothing about the man—at least, beyond the surface—had ever been. He lived his life as if he was in constant danger, just ramped up to a frighteningly high degree. Maybe head trauma did that to you. Maybe whatever life Steve had with his family did that to you. If those scars and the lack of parents in the picture weren’t a sign, he didn’t know what else was.
Eddie still had to wonder about the things that haunted Steve every waking moment.

Eddie Munson has heard all about that weird murder town, Hawkins, and its freak accidents. He's never really thought about it, though. It never came to mind.
Not until Steve Harrington moved into the abandoned house across the street, scarred and wary, like he was hiding. Running away. Like he'd been fighting monsters his whole life.

Summary
The first signs that Steve is getting a migraine are always ones he can’t identify until it’s too late. Things he dismisses as they occur but in hindsight knows what they meant.
The first one is a general feeling of something being wrong. But, he lives in Hawkins and a general feeling of something being wrong comes with the goddamn area code. So, a hard one to identify.
The second sign is that he’s unusually tired. But again, he lives in fucking Hawkins which is halfway to hell. And he’s been fighting devils since he was sixteen and had nightmares for just as long. So being unusually tired is actually pretty usual.
Or: Steve gets a migraine and very reluctantly has to ask for help, the only one he can ask is Eddie

The Johnsons and the McLeans have been steady tenants for the last few decades, but the inhabitants of the top floor have come and gone. She wonders, absently, at the relationship between the new neighbors. Number 3 is a two bedroom, so they’ll undoubtedly be sharing. Two couples? Siblings? Best friends? Where had they come from? She hadn’t gotten a good look at the license plates on their cars, but they had clearly not been Massachusetts plates, the colors all wrong.
Or, 5 times people incorrectly assume the relationship between their new neighbors, and one time they get it right.

It all started with a few shots and some bad intentions. It was some late summer night at a house Steve didn’t recognize. There was music that thrummed in his bones. Steve ended up in bed, a little tipsy, with a girl named Sarah. She was in his biology class sophomore year, but they hadn't spoken until tonight. They didn't really have any intention of speaking again after tonight either. Until Steve is staring down at a little blue plus sign some weeks later, pale as a ghost.
“What are we gonna do?” He asks breathlessly.
“I can't get an abortion, but I… I don't want a kid, Steve. I think adoption is the only option,” Sarah tells him, fiery locks tucked back into a ponytail.
The thought of his kid out there, being raised by someone else, and not being part of it twists his stomach. Steve may be terrified, but that fear pushes him into the jungle of fatherhood not away from it.
“I’ll take it,” he announces.
