"Mairon remained alone in the temple, kneeling before the altar with his head bowed to the blood-slicked stone floor, with the air still hung heavy with the stench of iron and smoke. He stayed there until morning, motionless and silent, as if he, too, had turned to stone, being no different from the cold walls surrounding him. When the other priests or temple servants dared to enter, they always found him in the same place, his tall form remained unnervingly still, golden hair cascading over his shoulders in stark contrast to his black robes.
Rumors spread quickly through the city, and all were amazen when, the very next day, Mairon appeared at the king’s councils. Or when he remained in the temple, not to sleep or rest through the daylight hours, but to receive any visitor who came seeking his guidance. Surely, such tireless devotion to his god and his duties could only be taken as proof of his sincerity and his holiness.
And in this, at least, he had never lied."

Mairon returns from battle and knows how to pull Melkor's strings - as well as his own. Melkor is happy to play along and together they make it a problem for everyone.

He needs permission to turn the Elf's fate into something more – a proof of weakness for their enemies. A gift of strength for his Lord.
He needs to break him. All so Mairon can point at him and say ‘See? They are weak. Not you. Not me. Not us.’

Instead of staying on Light's waist, L slips down further, so his knees are on either side of Light's head, sitting firmly on his chest, and his crotch is fully level with Light's face. Its enough to truly jar him out of the animalistic blind rage he had been in these past few moments, and he shakes his head.

L wanted to tear Light apart the same way you would with a pomegranate—dig his thumbs into the fruit and rip it apart where the juice, the blood would splatter everywhere, leaving a disgusting yet appetising mess. L would lick up every drop, he'd allow the juice to stain his face and run down the sides as it collected on his tongue, savouring the sweet nectar.

L half-asks, “Is that so."
