Summary
'You know, Tim, some warning would have been just as well,' Elias says, and he sounds frustratingly, irritatingly cool and collected. 'I thought you might be coming up here to kill me.'
'People try that often, do they? I can't imagine why,' Tim says sarcastically, and yanks the collar of Elias's shirt so he can press his teeth into the vulnerable skin there. Elias makes another small – very small – sound.
'Melanie is making preparations to poison my tea as we speak,' he says. If you know what you're listening for, his voice is just the tiniest bit more breathless than before, and the triumph of it tastes like sweetness and Elias's expensive cologne against Tim's tongue.
'Good for her!' Tim says brightly. ‘I hope she succeeds.’

Or, the TimElias Season 3 enemies with benefits to lovers fix-it fic that nobody asked for, featuring Elias's redemption, Tim beginning to heal, Jon and Martin being their adorable selves, and Basira being tired of all this shit.

“...Sure,” Martin replied glumly. He wondered if this is how all those french people felt, back in the days of guillotines. “Huh— How do you think I should introduce myself to this Archivist, anyway? They are going to be my boss, technically speaking, so I suppose I can at least try to make a good first impression…?”
The look Tim and Sasha shared was… Certainly something.
“I don’t think introductions will really be required,” she said, delicately.
“Right. Ok. Sure. Do you know what their name is? I ought to at least know that, right?” Martin pressed on, voice tinted by desperation. “Mr. Bouchard wouldn’t say—”
Again with the look. Martin was going to scream.
“Don’t you worry about that, bud,” Tim said with a very forced, nervous little grin. “The Archivist is just The Archivist. Just get in there and… Godspeed?”
----
Moved by desperation, Martin accepts a job he's perfectly aware is bad news, but maybe... It won't be as such for long.

Summary
Martin felt hypnotized, his own hands frozen on Jon’s elbow, his thin waist. He couldn’t stop looking at the expression of deep focus on Jon’s face as his hands roamed on Martin’s body; it was intoxicating, having the full attention of such an intense, fierce being pointed at one self.
It made Martin feel like he’d somehow managed to tame a dragon— But no, tame wasn’t the right word. Tame implied a certain amount of domestication and submission—
No, Jon wasn’t tamed. He was a beautiful wild beast; he was a hurricane, he was the ocean in the middle of a storm. You cannot tame a force of nature, you can merely hope and pray it will pass you by and leave you unscathed by a stroke of mercy.
Martin didn’t tame a dragon. He’d walked up to it with no self-preservation instincts whatsoever and threw stuff at it until the dragon had somehow grown fond of him.

Summary
It was Tim’s fault. If anyone in the Archives were to blame, it was definitely Tim Stoker. It was his idea in the first place, after all. He’d been the one to voice what they were all thinking.
“D’you reckon,” Tim had said as he leaned as far back in his desk chair as it would allow without toppling him over. He jerked a thumb towards Jon’s closed office door behind him. “With how much he’s in there every day, recording those statements, that he’s said just about every word there is in the English language? Discounting the right proper spooky ones, you think he’s recorded enough of those bogus statements on the computer that we could – I don’t know – make one of those talking programs? One of those- oh, what do you call it?” He bobbed up and down in his chair as he thought about it, then snapped his fingers when the term returned to him. “Text to Speech!”
“No, absolutely not,” Martin chimed in. "You both know you would just make it say whatever you wanted it to, and then Jon would find out, and then somehow he would find a way to blame me for it.”

"Where did you get that?"
Martin stares at it with wide eyes, setting the tea down quite unsteadily.
"Uhm." Jon looks at him, puzzled. "I don't think I...got it anywhere", he says. "It was here, in my office. I assumed you or- well, someone brought it in for me to record. Why?"
Martin swears under his breath.
"That's not-" Martin adjusts his glasses with a flustered motion. "That wasn't supposed to- You weren't supposed to have that."
"What do you mean?"
He takes the tea Martin set down on his desk, taking a sip. It's perfect. Just the way he likes it. Of course it is. It always is when Martin makes it- though Jon can't remember ever actually having told Martin how he takes his tea.
He waits for Martin to answer, but he just stands there with his eyes flitting around the room, lips pressed tight as his hands worry at the seam of his cardigan.
"Martin?" Jon sets the cup down. "It's a Statement. I'm the Archivist. What do you mean I'm not supposed to have it?"

Summary
“And as much as I believe that,” John begins and Arthur waits until he continues for the next pull at the cigarette, “you’re sure there’s nothing else that’s sending you out here like a brooding teenager?”
Arthur nearly splutters, turning his head toward John for the full wide-eyed effect, “Brooding? Am I brooding?”
John makes a noncommittal noise, makes sure to ruffle the sleeve of his coat as he motions, “It was the closest word I could come to, so yes. I think you are. For the entire day you have been, in fact.”

“You know,” he says, following the thought forming at the forefront of his mind before he can stop himself, “it might be a little easier to deal with all this if it were washed.”
“What?”
“I said I could go ahead and wash it for you, if you like?” Noel offers hesitantly. “Should be easier to brush afterwards.”
“Oh.” A strange flicker of emotion dances across what he can see of John’s face at this angle. He appears to mull it over, eventually coming to some internal conclusion with a nod.
“Sure, if you’d like.”

"Is it something you want?"
"Fuck off alright?! You can't treat me like I'm overreacting when I know you wouldn't be comfortable with this. I don't want to like it!"
"At least do me the service of letting me make the fucking choice, Arthur!"
"Fine. Fine, John, be my guest! Tell me, have you had any particular inclination to get on your knees and worship me as unto a god? I wondered if you'd thought about pleading for my dick as though it would be a great honor? Oh and while we're at it, why don't we just also summon a demon since we're looking for trouble!"
John froze, mouth dry.
"I told you," Arthur said.
John dropped to his knees before Arthur and said, "When were you thinking of because I have free time right now."

Mid-afternoon commuters pass by without a second look as he continues to slow, the ache in his legs growing stronger and stronger, and his right ankle twinges and threatens to roll beneath each step.
No…no, he refuses to collapse. Damn John for thinking he can't do this. It's a trip to the goddamn store. He can make it. It's only two more blocks. He doesn't let himself think about the walk back; he just needs to get inside and hold onto a shelf for a moment to catch his breath.

Summary
The horrors of life have cut Noel, Arthur, and John into new shapes— shaved, torn, gouged at their pieces until they morphed into different forms.
But life doesn’t cut with a clean blade, and the three struggle to neatly fit their jagged pieces together, snagging and abrading against each other’s rough edges. Still, erosion will always slowly wear and reform the land into something new— perhaps something worse, perhaps something better. It’s up to the cliffs to name their new shape.
