It had been a long day. The growing wheat rippled in waves as a sorrowful gust of wind blew between him and Hanbin, loneliness carried on its breeze. Between the white clouds, Zhang Hao could see miles of blue beyond.

His fingers come into contact with the ash of his extinguished cigar. “We both know no one is always clean. Sure, you’re good, but there’s only one bad day between you and a shallow, unmarked grave. What then? Will I just—“
“Just what?”
“Have to deal with it,” he says lowly, and the next words that follow fall out of his mouth like broken glass, fragile and vulnerable, threatening to cut open new wounds that never should’ve been there, “Act like you never existed to me, when—when the two of us are like this.”
The quiet of the room suddenly becomes heavy in his ears. A long second passes before Hanbin says, “I’d rather have you.”

Summary
His freedom is a concept that has lied out of reach for him since he was first captured, as he never assumed that there would be any other way for his story to end: the scientists on the ship made it clear he would be trapped in America until his new owners grew bored with him and severed his life at any moment they deemed fit. He wished for freedom, naturally, but as his time on the ship lengthened this wish changed. It seemed unfathomable to leave Hao behind when Hanbin was growing more convinced that they belonged together. He wanted Hao to always be with him, to brush a hand through Hanbin’s hair or pinch his cheek or smile at him in that soft, amused way he does. Two rivers running in parallel to each other until their time of confluence.

Hanbin had always imagined what it'd be like. Would his heart threaten to beat right out of his chest, overwhelmed by the sensation of finally being this close and intimate with the man he loved so dearly? Instead of that, however, all he felt was calm. It was quiet—there had been no sounds he had to listen to to look out for danger, wrapped within the cocoon of Hao's warmth and the bard's lips on his own. Hanbin felt safe. Warm.
A story of Hanbin—already comfortable in his own lonesome—and his chance encounter with Hao, who shows him what it looks like to be free.
Hanbin just isn't sure how he ends up falling in love irrevocably with Hao in the middle of it all.
