"What's going on in here?" Raph asked, opening the door to find the twins squished together on Leo's bed. Mikey peeked out from behind his back, eyes huge.
"Oh ho ho, I have discovered our problem, boys!" Donnie's shaking couldn't be contained and he leapt off the bed to pace and stim out his hands in fast, angry moments. "Fuck. Fuck!"
"Leo?" Mikey asked, quietly.
Leo blinked, glancing up from where he'd been very still. He said, "It's really not that bad."

A dimension that is very similar to feudal Japan. Leo will need to figure out how to get home while also navigating new relationships and dangers.
Meanwhile his family is dealing with grief in their own way. Some won't believe that he is gone, others are trying to accept it and move forward. But how do you keep moving when a fourth of your heart is missing.

Kenichi stumbled but got his footing back quickly. “Start walking down the hill.”
Kenichi made his first smart decision in two days and started walking back down the hill.

Sensei ground his teeth together, carefully sitting up and putting his shell against the wall, not taking his eyes off Donnie as the purple turtle got closer. 'Leo, we've got a problem.'
'No, you've got a problem.' Leo snarked, because once Leo really got pissed, it lasted for hours.
The hand in Donnie's pocket flicked out the tech bo to full length, spinning once, agile, before landing underneath Sensei's chin.
Donnie's eyes were rock hard ice. He said, "You're not Leo."

Donnie nods like this is perfectly reasonable and not an insane thing to say. “Really, making you all receptive to positive attention and tangible rewards was the most humane option I could have chosen. Of course they had to imprint on you instead,” he mutters to their father, who he’s hanging out with for some reason. Like they’re getting along now or something. Ugh.
“They would do anything for watermelon as children,” Splinter reminisces.

To the citizens of New York? fear, excitement, adoration for this odd and lovable creature. Everyone is quick to share stories and memories of their encounters, much to lament of Turtleman's older brother.
Alternatively, Donnie and Leo accidentally become modern folklore and legend to the city of New York. Their various sightings are shared across the web as they win over the hearts of their city. Raph is angry and frustrated at them getting caught, Mikey is angry and frustrated he hasn't been, Donnie and Leo don't know how to feel but they are insistent they've never done any of this on purpose.

Ok so like I like I said I live in Denver and I was walking home after work and had to do like a whole ass double take because right there in front of me is turtleman holding a sword and looking so fucking stressed so I’m like ‘bro you good turtleman?’ And he like jumps like 3ft in the air and like tries to run away before running back and like after tons of moments of shuffling feet he finally whispers “do you know how to get to Central Park?” And I’m like ‘Long way from nyc my guy, you’re in fucking Denver, co’ and bro when i saw his face was priceless? It was fucking. priceless. I’m talking eyes wide and bulging and mouth to the floor lol poor little homie stood there for like whole ass min before throwing his sword on the ground and kicking at nothing and he goes “Colorado?! It took me to Colorado?!” Before picking up the sword stomping away after he thanked me.
Lol idk how or why turtle man was in CO but clearly he didn’t either. Hope he found his way home.

Of course he’s going to feel complicated about loving a carbon-copy of himself when he hates himself so much.” After a moment, Mikey adds, “I think you help him feel better about who he is.”

Those are terminal, I hear. My condolences.”
“Aw, Leo!” Mikey coos, the unwitting soundtrack to Leo’s mind being blown. “This is so going in the scrapbook. Say ‘my family is about to embarrass me in front of a cute guy’!”

"Yeah, so there’s this weird thing with Leonardo, right? And maybe Leo’s imagining it, but he’s pretty sure his counterpart actually hates him...But, that’s crazy, right? Leo has his fair share of haters, but being hated by himself? Okay, that’s not entirely new either, but you get the point. Leonardo hates Leo, and he doesn’t really know what to do with that.
It’s not that Leo loves Leonardo either, but he wouldn’t say he hates him. He’s just… painfully, grossly, achingly jealous of his natural leadership skills that Leo can’t even dream of living up to."
Or, through Mikey's rusty experience opening interdimensional portals, he accidentally pulls alternate versions of themselves into their world with no way home. Everyone is adjusting pretty well except for Leonardo, who finds himself constantly at odds with Leo because of his drastically different leadership style and carefree nature. It comes to a head one day in a huge blow up, leaving Leo determined to mend and build a relationship with his counterpart no matter what.
