Summary
Best friends is too simple a term to squash the entire dynamic of Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya within.
Sure, they’ve known each other since they were children, and they’re each other’s #1 on their best friend lists on Snapchat, and Chuuya’s been seen one too many times in his hoodies. People have also noticed how Dazai’s main muse for his volunteer hobby of polaroid photographer is the redhead himself.
But the pranks they pull on each other isn’t much of a ‘best friend’ thing to do.
Especially when one of the pranks get pulled so far,
That Chuuya is forbidden from seeing Dazai ever again.
And though he sees no good coming from such a forced separation, the one thing that can enhance their futures together is propelled forward at a faster speed than either of them could have ever imagined:
Coming to terms with their unusual feelings for each other.

Summary
Chuuya Nakahara has always been a fantastic cosplayer. Even more so when he met the well-known cosplayer Dazai Osamu at his favorite cafe, Tree Shade. The two instantly “hated” each other. Dazai invites Chuuya to go to an anime convention for the cosplay contest event with him in a handmade cosplay of their favorite ship that took place in about a month. Chuuya accepts, of course, although he may or may not be a little anxious about going in ship cosplay with Dazai, especially since it would be handmade, due to his developing crush which he couldn’t admit to himself existed. Once they’re at the convention, the two don’t even place in the contest. After checking out some vendors at the convention, they decide to go sulk at KFC, where Chuuya contemplates confessing and ends up doing so in his own way.

“Who knew such a brute had a soft side?” They mused to themself, shaking their head fondly.
“Hah? Who the hell are you talking about?”
Dazai’s eyes snapped in the direction where they heard the familiar voice speak up. Knowing very few people who spoke the same way as their partner did only increased their excitement.
Their eyes locked onto a pair of fierce blue eyes that stared back at them expectantly.
Dazai could’ve sworn they felt something tugging at their heartstrings at the soft expression they were given.
Without a second thought, Dazai grinned and jumped into the arms of the other, laughing when the man yelped and stumbled back, his arms quickly latching onto Dazai as his back hit the car he stood beside harshly.
“Oi?! Ever heard of giving a warning?” Chuuya yelled-

There at the entrance of the shop stood a man with matted black hair and dilated pupils. The man’s deep purple eyes seemed to swirl invitingly towards Dazai, closer and closer. The brunette could almost feel himself already slipping back into bad habits. That was, until the phone he now had an alarmingly tight grasp on buzzed once more. That’s right. Chuuya. His mind supplied. Chuuya was coming for him. He had Chuuya now, someone who legitimately cared for him.
Dazai’s throat seemed to close up on him unwillingly, but he still weakly croaked out, “We’re closed.” He glanced over at a bland clock mounted up on the wall. 8:04. The shop closed four minutes ago.
The man smiled, slowly stepping further into the coffee shop. “What, can’t make time for your favorite customer?”

Since he can remember, the only sincere reprieve Dazai has ever received from the storm in his mind was books. Mori had been fond of all kinds of literature, stocking the shelves of his old home with volumes and volumes of escape mechanisms. Like a thing starved, Dazai devoured them, shutting out the rest of the world in his pursuit of peace.
Opening the shop had been natural, and he’d quickly accrued a slew of regulars who would listen to him wax poetic about his favorite novels. He’d had quite a few starry-eyed admirers lean across the counter, eyes intent on him as he spouted off flowery quote after fiery quote, yet no one had ever spiked Dazai’s interest enough for him to take their affections seriously.
Yet he’d grown all too fond of romances, of the comfort in the knowledge of a happy ending. No matter what, at the end of the story, the princess always found her prince, regardless of any bumps they hit along the way. No matter how rocky the start, no matter how dire the situation, love always pulled through.

Just for a moment, the brunet’s eyes reflected the bright light from the overhead lights, a bright glow engulfing them. “It’s not that often I have the time to see you guys act so barbaric, it’s very entertaining.”
Atsushi gave the other a light shove. “Is that really what you’re here to see?”
Annoyed, Dazai moved his gaze with narrow eyes towards Atsushi. Before he could shoot back at him, a loud yell from the rink interrupted them. “THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT, YOU LOUSY PILE OF BANDAGES?!”
