Summary
“You’re gonna stop when you’re at the edge. Like I said. C’mon. Be a good boy for me.” That almost sends Buck over. He can feel him tense above him, willing his own orgasm to stay at bay.
“Okay. I—“ He sobs, pressing his forehead down harder against Eddie.
“Feels so— you’re so fucking wet. Your pussy is so— Eddie. Mommy—”
It slips out. Like everything else Buck’s been moaning — breathless, needy, fucking wrecked.
Eddie freezes.
Or Eddie edges Buck over and over, and Buck accidentally calls him mommy.

Summary
The idea comes to him on one of his drives through the mountains.
He’s driving up, and up, and up until the road has a steep, sheer drop on one side, and nobody’s driving alongside him. He’s headed to the top of a mountain. There’s a gravel pull-off right before a hairpin turn. The turn is protected by a flimsy guardrail.
Eddie parks on the pull-off and walks over to look past the guardrail.
Nothing underneath. Just dry underbrush. A shallow stream right at the bottom. Thin vegetation. If a car missed the curve at a fair speed, it would plummet down the cliff. Next to no chance of survival.
And Eddie’s known to drive, to clear his own head. He used to do it to find hiking trails for him and Buck, or roadside attractions or activities that Christopher might like. It’s a known hobby of his. He’s a good driver.
So it’s not convincing if he crashes in good weather. He’ll have to wait for a storm.
But it’ll work. It has to work.
(Or: Eddie and all the ways you shouldn't love your loved ones.)

Summary
“How come you’re still awake?” Buck asks, antsy. He pulls at a loose thread inside one pocket with pinched fingers, rapidly picking apart the stitching. Better to unravel that than eight years of friendship all because said friend’s shorts have ridden up agonizingly at the thigh.
“I was waiting for you to get back. You’re kind of early, though.” Eddie’s eyes are tracked to the TV, but they dart over at Buck when he asks, “You strike out with Dixie?”
Which… Buck doesn’t even know where to start. He desperately needs to buy a vowel.
“Huh? Why—what—did I miss a text?”
Eddie, sat cross-legged on top of pearly-white cotton sheets, a vision so soft it’s making Buck dizzy, has the audacity to look puzzled. “Not from me. Why?”

Summary
“I’m not saying he is or isn't. I’m asking how this attachment affects you. If you think it doesn't affect you, then that's how you feel. But—” He paused, taking a sharp breath in. It felt like he was trying to work himself up to a conversation he'd been wanting to have for a while, but Buck didn’t understand what he was trying to say. “Every session, you talk about him. You don’t only talk about him, I’ll give you that, but we’ve been here for forty-five minutes, and you’ve talked about him for thirty-seven of those minutes.”
Buck sank in his chair. “Are you trying to make fun of me?”
“Definitely not,” he assured. “You told me Eddie made two mugs of coffee this morning. You talked about that for thirteen minutes.”
Here’s the thing: Buck really loves Eddie.

Summary
“Do none of you care about the children? It’s a bachelor auction, and you, my friend, are a bachelor. Abracadabra, put your name on the list.”
“I can’t,” Eddie repeats. He can’t. He cannot. “I’m not.”
“You’re not? Since when?” Chimney frowns. “Who?”
It’s not Eddie’s fault that, at that exact moment, Buck walks in. So it’s not his fault that he opens his mouth and says, “Buck.”
Or, Eddie trips and falls into a lightly fraudulent HR-disclosed "consensual romantic relationship" with his best friend. Really, if you think about it, it's a win-win.

Summary
“Buck, it’s a Thursday. We’re not getting drunk on a Thursday.”
Buck shrugs a shoulder, pulling out his shaker and cocktail-making equipment and placing them amidst the chaos of supplies. “We don’t have work tomorrow.”
“Okay, but Chris needs to be picked up at 8 am from Camp and—”
“And I will set a dozen alarms.” Buck beams at him. He already knows he’s won. He knows when Eddie is about to concede. He knows Eddie better than he knows the back of his own hand.
“Buck,” Eddie says warningly, shaking his head like he’s setting his foot down, but Buck knows better.
He leans down on his elbows on the counter, his head placed atop his hands, matching Eddie’s tone with a mock-serious, “Eddie.”
A beat passes. Eddie’s lips twitch up into a half-smile despite himself. Got him.
“...Fine. Prove your point.”

“I’ve got a good feeling about this,” Buck says, during the first ad break.
“They’re not going to reuse that one,” Eddie says immediately. “Do you remember when she guessed that from only the L?”
“That was insane, I still have no idea how she did that,” Buck says, excitedly bouncing his leg up and down. “But no seriously, I think I’m going to get one right tonight.”

Summary
“Not a therapist,” Eddie reminds him, hands soothingly running along his sides as he plants a kiss to his shoulder over his shirt. “Just worried about you.”
“Can we not talk instead?”
Eddie seems to ponder on the request, doing a small nod but Buck can tell he isn’t fully convinced. “Okay, we don’t have to talk today.” He brushes over his sides once more before he stops, pulling back as best as he can, “I got us something.”
That makes Buck lift his head, drinking in all the excitement on Eddie’s face. “Yeah?”
Eddie hums, leaning forward to kiss along Buck’s neck, up to behind the sweet spot behind his ear and Buck crumbles under the affection, a small moan passing his lips. “Got an IMAX documentary with our name on it.”

Summary
“Him? It’s a boy?” He was beautiful, sleeping as soundly as his mother and letting out soft murmurs as he was transferred from body to body. His long eyelashes cast a light shadow across his cheeks. His pink lips pursed and cupids bow dipped just perfectly.
“His name is Edmundo. Just like his Abuelo.”
Isabel lifted her finger, tracing it along her grandson’s brow much like she had done her own son moments ago, “Edmundo,” she repeated, “Mi Eddito. Beautiful boy.”

Summary
“I didn’t know,” she assures him.
“You suspected.”
“Not for too long,” she shakes her head. “But the past few years, you… you’ve seemed… withdrawn, and… I’ve been finding you all these wonderful women, but even the women you have found yourself… I must say, it’s seemed as if you’ve been…”
“…performing? Playing a part?” Eddie finishes softly when she trails off for a moment too long.
“Holding your breath,” she says, instead. And… oh… there’s the third tear, and fourth—the fifth one burning in his waterline as he sniffles again, flaring his nostrils in an attempt to keep them at bay once again. Holding his breath. Yeah. Exactly. God, that’s exactly what he’s been doing. “And your Evan—your Buck…” she says, then, the corners of her mouth lifting knowingly; Eddie can’t help but let his own do the same. “The way he cooks, the way he hugs Christopher, the way he looks at you? The three of you together?” she takes his hand again, giving it another squeeze. “Such a beautiful family,” she says. “So much love.”

"Eddie, what are you doing here?”
A beat.
“Would you believe me if I said I was really craving spaghetti bolognese?” He asks, giving him a half smile.
Another beat.
Buck gives him a dry look and Eddie exhales slowly, steeling himself, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
“Okay, fine. I followed you here.”
“I assumed as much,” Buck states, nodding his head. “I’m just trying to understand why.”
Or, Eddie stalks Buck on one of his dates. But he promises that it's not his fault, really. (It is.)

Summary
He hears a clang come from the living room and feels deeply grateful he thought to not use the front door today. Give him an extra few seconds to gather himself.
He doesn’t think any amount of time would’ve prepared him for what he walks into.
The living room is a mess. The couch is on its back, the rug that’s normally under it is rolled up in the corner of the room, and the coffee table is pushed up against a wall. Standing in the middle of this entire mess is Buck, shirtless and wearing a backwards baseball cap, studying a cleaning bottle.
Eddie has heard a lot of stories about Buck 1.0. He’s even seen some pictures of Buck during that time, significantly smaller and a whole lot cockier looking. Eddie thinks that this man standing right here is the closest he’ll ever get to the famed (and self-named) firehose.
He wants to scream.
Eddie clears his throat, wanting Buck to know that he’s here, but not really trusting his voice right now.
Buck turns around, his usual smile already brightening his face. “Just in time, I need help putting all the furniture back.”
or
Buck and Eddie piss each other off, super platonically.
