-New chapter: In the aftermath of his dinner with Jarlaxle, Fel’rekt visits the Oozing Myconid with Krebbyg. Dancing around his own inconvenient truths, Fel’rekt learns a little bit more about Krebbyg’s nightmares. Elsewhere, Jarlaxle continues to be a grumbly petty bitch with Valas and Kimmuriel.

This is a campaign novelization of Vecna: Eve of Ruin, with characters drawn from Bright Future (my campaign novelization of the latter half of Out of Abyss), plus characters from the same DM’s Descent into Avernus game. It should be welcoming to both readers and non-readers of Bright Future (and light on the spoilers), especially if you dig romance, family drama, sad drow males, and intense conversations.

Summary
Jorlan Duskryn, now prisoner of the heroes of Velkynvelve, has left a trail of ash behind him. Lost in the surface world, with no home to return to, the druid Mavash tries to convince him of his bright future.
Based on the latter half of my playthrough of the "Out of the Abyss" adventure. But, like, with more feels, elf fancying, and spreading friendship across the Underdark.
While there are some inevitable spoilers, our campaign is very different from the rules-as-written module, and the focus here is more on characterization and emotion than plot, anyway. Don't be scared away if you haven't played the module!

Artemis, predictably, sighs again, but stands, Jarlaxle in his arms. A comical sight, probably, seeing that Artemis is a good few inches shorter. But Jarlaxle is too busy marveling at being picked up with such ease – it entices him every damn time.
There's a knock on the door.
They still immediately. There are many reasons someone might be at their door – they have been in this town a few weeks at this point. Both allies and enemies have been made; the latter would seldom go knocking on their door at a still respectable evening hour.
Artemis quickly pulls on a clean shirt as Jarlaxle kicks the pile of bloodied clothing away. Then Artemis opens the door.
Jarlaxle would recognize the man standing behind the doorframe everywhere and every time, in any lifetime, in any circumstance. He would recognize him blind and deaf. In the deepest pits of his heart his face is etched in bloody runes; his voice is lodged in his ears like a forever ringing bell.

Summary
They are standing close now, the blood Entreri has spilled pooling around the soles of their shoes.
Jarlaxle wonders if he should ask before he kisses him – to surprise Artemis Entreri while at arms lenght would mean a quick death. But surely Entreri can tell why he is leaning in.
As soon as the thought crosses his mind he finds himself, of course, voicing it out loud. He really, really hated honesty potions from now on.
"Can I kiss you?" he asks, already too close for the comfort of any who did not want to be kissed.
"You better!" is all Entreri manages to get in.

A potion of honesty, an elf with a fake heart on is sleeve and an assasin who keeps to himself walk into a cave. Thoughts are voiced, actions are taken, and the two begin to... well, it's not healing yet, but it is still progress (probably).

Summary
The Grey Warriors have finally left the duergar occupied city of Gracklstugh and set course for Neverlight Grove, but every which way the group turns, they find further turmoil in the Underdark. The horror and destruction that began in the kuo-toa village of Sloobludop is rapidly spreading far, far beyond it.
Stonespeaker Hgraam’s grim warning remains fixed in their heads:
“The rock itself cries with pain and horror, and a madness creeps from the blackest depths. Pay heed to the signs around you. A cave with two faces. Rock devoured, and the land overgrown. The pebble believes itself flesh. The earth rejects its wards, and the tunnels shake with fury. By these portents, you shall know of evil’s presence and of evil’s face. This is what the stones tell me.”
More than ever, the lands below need a light in the dark.
