When the burger factory was first commissioned, I was promised it would be for therapeutic cloning only. Muscle tissue for meburgers; organs if I needed them; but no experimenting with brain tissue. And absolutely no reproductive cloning – that is, making a whole other me. My provisions were ratified by the Eridian legislative body over a decade ago, and it's the reason I gave up my stem cells willingly – well, that, and I missed meat. A lot.
I mean, I miss hugs too, but not so badly I would condemn another human to live his entire life inside this dome with me. Don't get me wrong, I like Erid; I'm happy here. But to never know Earth, to only have yours truly for human company… that's a pretty raw deal. I couldn't conscience bringing a new life into the wrong world – and neither could my Eridian hosts.
Or so I thought.

It isn’t much later that he’s shifting his feet down a chilled sidewalk lit by the weariest streetlamp Peter Parker's ever seen. Peter looks up, bracing against the cold to examine it more closely. It reminds him of the historic cast-iron lamp posts he can sometimes find in New York. The light it casts is dim, barely lighting five feet. It flickers ever so often, dead bugs lining the bottom of the lamp.
Peter can’t help but feel a little sorry for it. He glances over, intent to continue, but in the faint light something catches his eye. Above leans an old building lined with chipped pillars. Stretched across the front is a tattered banner reading, ‘Thank You Gotham City!’
If anything, the banner makes him feel very unthankful. But that must be where he is, ‘Gotham City’. Place could use a laugh.
I was reading through my drafts and previous chapters and I'm really unhappy with how I've written this. I still like this story, but I'm not a fan of my execution. This story started off as a writing exercise to get back into the flow of things, but I really want to do it justice.
So, unfortunately, I'm going to put this fic on hiatus for a rewrite.

When Grover first caught a whiff of Mr. Jackson’s scent, he knew something was up.
Sure, the man looked normal enough from Grover’s brief glimpse of him through the windshield as Mrs. Jackson’s Toyota Prius trundled up the long driveway. He had sunburnt shoulders and was still wearing a pair of bright yellow bib-and-brace oilskins, like he’d just come back from his job on the fishing trawler.
But once the car got close and Grover caught Mr. Jackson’s scent, all of Grover’s fur stood on end.
Because beyond the sweat, salt, and dead fish he could pick up, there was a strangely synthetic human smell. It was sort of like how Fanta smelt like oranges. Which was to say - and a sharp stab of anxiety wormed its way into Grover’s heart at the thought - Mr. Jackson smelt like he was a fake human. Was Mr. Jackson a monster in disguise?

In a moment of weakness, Poseidon makes a decision. He chooses a decade of a mortal life so he can be with Sally and his son. But when a god, especially one as important and powerful as Poseidon, becomes mortal, there are consequences. (Or that fic where Asclepius is taken instead of the lightning bolt.)

Heavily inspired by the many wonderful Fountain Percy / Athenide Percy AUs and the incredible 'no demi-gods' Aus that I have been obsessively devouring this last week. Basically I put the two AUs in a blender and this is what came out.
