"You have a leaf in your hair," Kaoru whispered, leaning over.
Kojiro rubbed his head. "You still have sand on your face."
Kaoru rubbed his cheek. "Is there still sand on my tongue?"
Kojiro squinted at Kaoru’s tongue, then shook his head. He grinned, unable to help himself. "The face you made after eating the dirt was so funny. You looked like a pufferfish!"
Kaoru’s ears went red, and he gave Kojiro a sharp shove with his shoulder. "At least I wasn't a dummy who ate dirt after I already saw someone else get flowers stuck in their teeth. That's even stupider."
When Kojiro is five years old, he recruits the shy kid in the sandbox to help him bake the perfect sand cake. It's no wonder that food ends up being a big part of how him and Kaoru take care of each other. After all, people say the way to a man's heart goes through his stomach. It's a good thing Kojiro loves cooking, and Kaoru... tries.

As Gale spoke, he could feel the weight of his words sinking into the person sitting across from him. It was like casting a spell, but took no effort. Astarion had been staring hollowly into his goblet of blood, but at this he made a faintly interested noise. As if the rule were novel and he was considering the shape of it.
"Second, you will obey me in all things," said Gale. There didn't feel like there was any honest way of softening that. Astarion didn't make any sound at all.
"Third, do not leave the tower without permission." Astarion made another speculative noise, considering this one too. But then his shoulders hunched and his eyes skittered down, as if he didn't want to look at what was about to happen.
"Fourth," Gale said, and paused. He started with some context: "There is a tressym upstairs."
Astarion's head twitched. He looked up at Gale, blinking, startled. He had the air of someone who had been bracing for a blow and instead had just been handed a balloon animal.
"A what?" he asked.

Roman Roy is the owner and CEO of PGM, and once a pretty strong ally, which is why Jeryd Mencken is very confused about the media giant's swing towards an outright attack on his attempt to become President of the United States. They need a face-to-face to clear things up.
Roman's going through it in every possible way, and is not prepared for the text that arrives on his phone from the last person he expects to hear from: I'm in DC, where can I meet you?
It doesn't seem inevitable until it does, but when the inevitable comes, they can't help but answer.

Victorian London, a year after the events of "Blood Of The Smegged". Benevolent polyamorous vampire couple Count Arnold Rimmer and Dave Lister find their peaceful existence disrupted when the predatory Count Dracula targets their human lover Dr Frank Van Todhunter.
Whilst it does help if you've already read "BOTS", this fic can be understood without having done so.
The BOTS / EOTS-verse is a Red Dwarf AU influenced somewhat by Dracula but also Hammer Horror and vampire films in general. In keeping with RD, it's mostly played for comedy. Kryten is a faithful immortal retainer and Cat is a werecat.

"Will you shut up about it already?" interrupted Lister, who was lying in the bunk above. "I'm trying to get some kip, here."
"When are you not."
"Hey, but it's important tonight!" he protested. "We've got to be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow!”
Oh, right, that. Since neither of them had earned enough wages to get their own place to stay during the summer, various arrangements and arguments had been made between them. To put it briefly, they'd both finally settled on getting a hotel room in Liverpool to share, so Lister could see his hometown and friends, and Rimmer could miserably follow him around.or: Rimmer and Lister get a summer holiday to Earth
