Cas doesn’t laugh the first time Dean asks for it, eyes trained on the floor, cheeks red, stuttering out what he wants. Cas simply takes both of Dean’s hands in one of his, tilts Dean’s chin up with the other until Dean is looking him in the eye, and asks, “Are you sure? Because if you are, then I’m going to need you to trust me, and I’m going to need us to set some ground rules.”
Dean nods, as best he can with his jaw in Cas’s grip, and then Cas kisses him until his face hurts.

He expected more of Dean’s infuriating defiance, so he was shocked when the other angel ducked his head instead, freckled cheekbones tinging a delicate pink. Castiel stared as Dean looked away, bronze wings curving in tight to his back, an uncharacteristic show of vulnerability.

“You do want that. You acted out for attention. For my attention.” Castiel stared at Dean with eyes that were wide with surprise, but Dean merely looked at the ground. His silence was as damning as any answer he could have given, and Castiel felt the surprise in him begin to change, morphing into something deeper and more heated. “Well,” he said darkly, “you certainly have it now.”

Summary
The man was dead, and it was wrong.
A lot can happen in a day. A hunt leaves Dean broken, bleeding and clinging to life. In the days that follow, he finds his typical life of mundane monster-hunting turned on its head, as he is trailed by blue lights and radio static. To make matters worse he worries he might be becoming the very thing he's spent his life hunting.
Castiel is an angel with a mission. He needs to keep Dean alive, a task which is more difficult than he had anticipated. To rub salt in the wound, he might be falling from grace. Angels aren't meant to have human emotions but he is beginning to want things.

Castiel could make Dean ask. He could tell him to use his words, to articulate what exactly he wanted and needed right now, and his sweet, obedient boy would do it. But that would be cruel. As much as Castiel liked to hear Dean beg, he knew there was a time and a place for it, and now was not that.

Summary
It's been months since Michael unexpectedly let Dean go, but he's still dealing with the mental and physical repercussions, some of which have turned out to be permanent. He’s had to adjust how to deal with hunts and that he likely won’t ever be at 100% again. On the upside, he and Cas are close now in a way that he’d never dared hope for, have made it clear how they feel for each other. Dean's greedy for every bit of affection they share, helplessly wanting more but unsure if Cas wants the same. Dean’s family got him back and he's got them, but they’re all dealing with their own respective issues and hang-ups, and when they - Cas, Dean, Sam, Eileen, and Jack - embark on a case of missing homeless people in San Diego, it all comes bubbling to the surface.
This case fic follows Dean and Cas as they develop their relationship and establish intimacy, and while there's angst, the story is focused on healing and closeness, and there's a happy ending.

When Cas wakes for the first time after his surgery, there’s sunlight tentatively streaming through the window to his right.
It takes him a while of uncoordinated blinking and thinking until he realizes where he is, why he’s here. And then the giddiness comes, sudden and overwhelming, when he looks down at his chest and there is none.
The reality is almost too much to grasp and his hands shake a little when he tries to raise them to touch.He's happy, and giddy, and so thankful.
