Summary
Daniel always hated throwing up.
Hated the feeling of heat, the constricting of his throat, and the taste, all of which sort of be soothed away by his mothers fingers carding through his hair or a soothing hand rubbing his back.
But more than all that? He hated the feeling of almost throwing up. The tight throat, the taste of acid, the burning in his nose, all for nothing. He’d rather shove three fingers in this throat to finish the job than to leave himself with that feeling.
But he’s not at home sick, and there’s no one to soothe him through the feeling as watches Max’s car crash into the barriers on the screen.

Summary
Max's crash in Silverstone changed his and Lando's lives forever. As time passes, new issues develop as Max's concussion fails to heal and is diagnosed as a traumatic brain injury. The crash didn't only put Max's health and racing career at risk, it also imploded his relationship with his father. Now that Jos knows Lando and Max are together, he is becoming increasingly more hostile towards Lando as he is losing his connection with his son. Max is carrying all of that stress while competing for a world championship, but he doesn't have to do it alone. Lando has been by his side every step of the way. He is Max's rock so when just a few races after Silverstone, Lando has a dramatic crash at Spa, all of the pent up emotions and anxiety come to the surface for both of the boys.

Summary
Max felt like the moon, hung amongst the stars, watching the quiet stillness settle as the world fell asleep. Daniel was the sun, all blindingly golden and warm rays that you could bask in during busy city afternoons. He was wisps of amber that cascaded down, ringlets of an orange peel, fruit generous in the palm of your hand. He embodied everything summer represented, tied together with the checkered cloth you'd lay out for a picnic. Max felt as if he was held in winter: frost-covered windows, ice spindles crawling up glass panes, as the heat of your breath fogged them up.
They felt so different, but that was what brought him in. Opposite ends of a magnet, their dance orbited around one another, stepping into a constant swing of back-and-forth.
Daniel felt safe.
But with safety came fear: fear of longing, of losing, of having to move on.

Or: Recently widowed Max moves to a city in an attempt to escape the past, setting a rule to protect himself: no more falling in love. What he doesn't account for is reuniting with his childhood friend Charles, who introduces him to Daniel and Arvid, which happens to completely derail Max's plans.
