Summary
The first time, Loki hadn’t meant to see.
He had been watching Mobius, of course he had. But not with the intention of witnessing anything he shouldn’t, only hoping to observe him go about his day, look on his wide smile beneath his ridiculous moustache.
He’d been watching as Mobius put his boys to bed, watching as he brushed his teeth, washed his face. He’d turned away to check if Kevin and Sean had really followed the lights off instruction — they had, but it hadn’t stopped them from huddling together in the bottom bunk to watch a video on the tablet they’d smuggled in — while Mobius changed for bed, because he had known then how to show some respect, how to have some common decency. He looked back as Mobius slid into bed, settled in to watch Mobius’ body relax into sleep, his expression turn slack and untroubled, as Mobius settled into the mattress.
Loki watches Mobius on the timeline. This is for a number of reasons, some more legitimate than others.

“Oh, stop whining, you big baby.” Mobius tosses the towel on the desk, picking up his threaded needle. “We just started.”
“I’m not any good at this. You should’ve seen—wait. Wait,” Loki breathes, eyeing the needle as Mobius gets closer. The other man stops, looks up at him expectantly. The blood on his collarbone is a dark streak on his skin. “Distract me.”
Mobius raises an eyebrow. “You want me to distract you?” he asks, and Loki nods again.

Loki gets injured. Stuff happens.

Another little noise escaped him, a small groan from the back of his throat, and Mobius was getting worried now. He hadn’t had a nightmare this bad in a long while. Flashes of memories of Loki jolting awake yelling from fear filled Mobius’s mind, but he quickly shook them out. Just focus on the situation at hand, he told himself.
“Mobius.”
The man in question paused, blinking for a second before looking back at Loki’s face. Nope, he was still asleep.

Behind him, Hannibal’s breathing is barely audible. Always so damn composed. Or perhaps Hannibal is really asleep? Perhaps the touch is only accidental? It’s the soft pad of a thumb on the back of his neck and the tips of loosely curled fingers stirring his curls more than resting against his skin.
Shouldn’t he hate it? Or at the very least, fear it? Deep down he feels something else entirely. Relief of some undefined kind that he fiercely pushes away and refuses to acknowledge. It’s too embarrassing. He can’t be that person. Can’t be that weak.
