Ilya Rozanov thinks it's probably best to decline the invitation to the 2017 All-Star Game. It's not swaggering, knothead alpha male bullshit; it's a survival strategy. He doesn't think it'll end well for anyone if he's forced into playing an instinct-driven, blood-pumping sport like ice hockey with Shane Hollander right now, not when Hollander is probably going to bring his new girlfriend to Tampa for the weekend.
But it's Hollander. It's Shane. So of course Ilya doesn't decline the stupid invitation. And of course the game goes sideways.
That doesn't mean it doesn't end well.

Jayce wordlessly slipped under the blankets, hardly feeling the slight pressure of them over his body. All he could see was the snow out there. He could feel it burrowing under his skin, the phantom sensation of what he swore was his blood freezing in his veins.
He flinched at the feeling of a hand on his face. Viktor’s palm was cold on his cheek, but it was oddly grounding.
“Where did you go?”
Jayce swallowed. “You know where.”

He watches Jayce deliberate on what tool is best to start with. Hands on his v shaped waist, shoulders hunched and the muscles pulled across the expanse of his shoulder blades.
Viktor looks down at his book as his cheeks flush. Jayce has work to do, there’s no reason to interrupt. If they just have sex all the time nothing will get done.
He starts reading, taking another sip of tea and then he hears Jayce grunt and the sound of splintering wood. He looks up. Watching his lover raise the sledge hammer like it’s nothing above his head and then swing at the beams above him to knock them down. Catching the heavy wood on his shoulder before throwing it to the ground.
Viktor shuts his book with one hand with an audible noise.
Viktor watches Jayce do some work on their new home post canon and gets worked up about it. Now he’s gotta get Jayce worked up too.

Viktor had fully expected the behavioural changes that came with the hormone fluctuations a bite, the biological imperatives that made themselves known in their bodies attempt to prove itself a worthy partner.
For omegas, this usually meant providing for their alpha, showing they were able to care for a mate should the relationship develop further.
Alphas, on the other hand, presented very different behaviours in response to a courting bite, preferring feats of strength and protective displays of affection.
Viktor was just waiting for Jayce to begin showing the same traits.

Summary
Viktor and Jayce get along just fine in the lab, Viktor isn't bothered by the numerous courting gifts offered to his partner. Not at all.
He's not supposed to notice that Jayce started taking suppressants, he can't comment on it either. But, when three years later Jayce was still taking them, Jayce's body finally gave up and his doctor and family scolded him into stopping the medicine.
Viktor is tasked with taking care of Jayce as he comes out from under the suppressants, but things take an unexpected turn while the Omega is in heat.

And there was Viktor himself. He sat at the window, back to them, still as a statue. His hair was still long, to his shoulders, and he wore a red prison uniform that hung loosely on his small frame. The sun caught the light streaks in his hair and two butterflies danced outside the window.
“Viktor,” Jayce breathed out, relief settling in him at last.
Viktor turned. Jayce saw his own desperation reflected on Viktor’s face. They were moving towards each other, magnets pulled together with no other choice.
He was warm and slight in Jayce’s arms. His hair smelt clean and faintly of citrus. He could feel Viktor’s heartbeat against his own. He shut his eyes and pulled him closer, willing them to merge. Viktor buried his face in his shoulder. He was trembling.
Or the Arcane spits Viktor and Jayce back out after ten years have passed. No one knows what to do with them, themselves included. Between the tensions in the Undercity, remains of Viktor's cult, and too much politics, they try to find a way to live again.

Bookmarking for the first few chapters which I love.
But later there's a lack of urgency. Why is Jayce entertaining someone when Viktor has been kidnapped? And the amount of meljayvik...idk either throuple them or don't I don't need to hear every other Mel scene one of the three thinking "well maybe in a different world we could have shared Jayce."
Love that Cait hates Viktor. Gives us some good meat to chew on and feels like a natural progression and a good problem for the characters to work through. The ekko stuff is also good.
