He blinked slowly, like he didn't care at all and Jisung followed the movements of the eyelids.
"Stop everything, Cat-shark. If you started it, you can stop it."
Jisung was used to the dimness now and could see him in his entirety. Inhuman, feline eyes and sharp teeth, shiny scales and hair devoid of colors. A long tail curling around itself, protruding from the wooden tub and taking up all the space in the cell. Blushing fins and gills under his jaw. White scales, reflecting light in a ray of colors. Blue, pink, purple, and something indescribable, almost unreal to human eyes.
-or: Pirate Captain Jisung has a merfolk chained in his ship, life or death matter. Jisung knows he has to be careful, he knows merfolks and their tricks. What they eat and what they do to obtain it. If only his merman wasn't so alluring, perhaps the journey would be easier.

The Captain was sitting at the desk, seemingly buried in some paperwork. The man only looked up when the door closed behind Jisung.
“Unit 143 has arrived as ordered, Comrade Captain.”
The man nodded then stood up from his desk. Jisung offered his hand first.
“Second Lieutenant Han Jisung.” He bowed politely as the Captain took his hand.
“Captain Lee Minho.”
As the man spoke, something twisted in Jisung's stomach. He was hit by a weird feeling out of nowhere. He felt the goosebumps on his nape. But he wouldn't say it was a bad feeling. It was more like what people called nostalgia. Or more like deja vu.

“Most people think blindness means living in darkness.” He began, turning a corner to wander deeper into the garden. “But darkness isn’t empty. Not if you know where to find the light.”
Jisung glanced toward him. “You can see light?”
Minho shook his head slightly. “Not the way you do.”
“Does the darkness frighten you?”
“At times. But I learned a long time ago, if you spend all your time looking at the darkness,” he said quietly, “you miss the bright things hiding inside it.”
Jisung’s heartbeat shifted slightly. Not faster, just louder. Harder for Minho to ignore, not that he had intention on doing so.
“What do they look like?”
The king smiled, thinking it over for a moment. “They sound like laughter. Smell like fresh-baked bread.” A quiet giggle made his chest tighten more than he expected. It was quickly becoming his favorite sound. “And sometimes, they feel like standing beside someone who makes the darkness a little easier to walk through.”

One exhausting night, with his mind drained from a long shift and accumulated fatigue, Jisung makes a disastrous mistake while trying to sort through messages and files on his phone.
The mix-up happens the moment he decides to send an important work document to his teammate, Minho, while simultaneously sending an intimate photo to appease his boyfriend's demands. Fatigue plays a cruel trick on him: the PDF meant for Minho ends up going straight to his boyfriend, while the highly intimate photo lands in Lee Minho’s chat.
This mix-up triggers an inevitable turning point, forcing Jisung to confront truths he had been trying to ignore and making way for a repressed desire that completely changes the course of his nights.
