Summary
It’s been a little over a decade since the end of the war. Since Legundo was walked out as one of the few survivors of those he trained with, commended for his efforts as both a soldier and field medic, and given a medal. For his bloodless victory. For the peace he brought forth and the lives he saved.
Bloodless in name alone. Something he was forced to ruminate on, in the years that followed. But the deaths on his hands were still many. From the town he poisoned, to the soldiers he failed, and the enemies he once aimed his gun towards.
Legundo had accepted he was a monster. The badge chained to his uniform and now surely hung proudly in his family home serving as a reminder that he will never be a peaceful man. He will never be good, and he will never make up for the horrible, horrible things which stain his hands.

Summary
When Elle was nine years old, she dared her best friend to follow her into the woods, and he died.
That's how she remembered it: the eyes in the dark, the moving shadows, the flash of fangs, and screaming, both of them screaming — and then clutching Avid to her chest, half-carrying, half-dragging, his blood soaking through both their clothes. And the whole way home, thinking, He's dead, he's dead, he's dead.

If I ever write Elle content I’ll have to make an active effort not to accidentally plagiarize this, because it has wormed into my soul as the solid facts of these two’s lives that make my heart hurt in the best way. Summary
Scott Goldsmith has just woken up, and already there was a vampire hunter in the town.
Just his luck! At first, Scott was going to ridicule him, but now he's not so sure that's the best option. He doesn't want to get staked again. Instead, he decides the best way to get at the vampire hunter is to say he believes him, slowly gain his trust, then betray him and take the town. He seems incredibly naive, too. Scott can tell he's never actually killed a vampire before.
Well, you know what they say. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. If Scott wants to have a bit of fun and regain his empire, sacrifices have to be made.

OR; Scott, instead of ridiculing Avid, tells him he believes him in an effort to gain his trust. They move in together as roommates. And for now, Scott believes that he's the worst monster in that town.

Summary
Little sobs, muffled into the woollen blankets they’d gotten together, but not entirely muted, still loud enough for her to notice, to glance over at the bed and see Avid’s shoulders shaking, face buried in blanket and thus not visible, though she could imagine how wrecked he’d look if she could see it.
The chair creaked beneath her as she stood, and Avid visibly tensed, the footsteps that followed having his (red-rimmed, tear-filled) eyes peeking out to stare at her, and she wasn’t sure what his expression meant, but she could imagine it meant something, some hurt or fear or shame at being seen.
“I… noticed you were crying?”

Summary
Many, many times, Elle has put herself in Avid's shoes, imagining how horrible it would be to lose control of herself in a way that's so violent. Many, many times, she has watched him snap and ached for him. She knows the effects of his illness inside and out, and yet all of that experience and careful thought hardly makes a dent in the horror that holds her captive after experiencing it for herself.
But she is not Avid; nobody will be coming to collect her.
Or: Elle, after Avid runs to Oakhurst.

Please read this please please even if you don’t usually read Elle fics this one will worm into your heart and rip it out. It’s such a good slow exploration of her grief for not only Avid but for herself and her/their life and feels genuinely so human and real in way that’s gonna sit with me for a good long while. Read it now. This is an order. Thank you.

Okay I have no clue how else to describe this one but like…. Lynchian??? And like the weird tiny audio dramas I listened to as a teen, and like a dream you didn’t fully remember but still Feel? And also just a pretty accurate description of a small forest town in Canada.
Anyway. Read it, even if that description doesn’t make any sense for the first several chapters- trust me, you’ll see what I mean. Insane that this author doesn’t do horror often. If you read this, please write more horror this shit slaps -
