The cold tile floor was agony to his knees as he knelt in front of the toilet, retching convulsively. Everything hurt and now that Theo was asleep, he finally felt able to cry, but he had no tears in him. His mouth was paper dry and he’d scarcely peed in hours and he begrudgingly accepted that now was the time to call for help. Eddie picked up on the first ring and Buck was immediately rambling.
“Eddie, I can’t do this alone. Theo got it too and it’s been hell. There’s puke and shit everywhere, mostly his, and he keeps crying for his parents and I don’t know what to do. I’m so, so tired and I just want to sleep. I can't stop puking, I can’t keep anything down and Theo will be up soon anyway and I don’t know what to do! I’m not cut out for this. I love him so much but I’m not his father, I can’t take that place!”
Or, Buck and Theo are both hit hard by norovirus. Buck thinks he can handle it until he can't.

Yuna Hollander is a pragmatist above all else. She thrives with logistics and spreadsheets, weighing probabilities and outcomes and risks and rewards. She can handle the people-coralling of it all, if she treats the schmoozing and handshaking as moving chesspieces instead of navigating a social minefield.
She knows that Shane is the same way, except that his tolerance for people-coralling is even less than her own.
What Yuna does not know, and what has bugged her for the past nine months, is what the fuck happened on Boxing Day to blow up Shane and Ilya’s relationship past the point of repair.
It doesn’t really matter, now. Right now, she is simply glad that she has quietly remained an emergency contact for Ilya Rozanov for the logistics of what they are facing at this very moment, because it means that she knows the address of his new place, and so she can race to it after her phone had damn near overheated and exploded during her morning Pilates class with the notification overload.
Someone has hacked Ilya's iCloud account. Ten years of text messages have been published for the whole world to see.

No, the hardest part for Ilya is that he still feels exactly the same.
His brain still feels slow in the way that it has for most of the off-season, like an engine trying to run on empty. Every task, the motor sputters, fighting to start. Hockey is still hard. Life is still hard. Terry had told him not to expect the medication to work straight away; it can take a couple of weeks to get into your system, he had said, and sometimes things might get worse before they get better. Things aren’t worse a few days in, but they aren’t better either; just the same. The same emptiness, the same ache, the same worry that perhaps he’s always going to feel like this.

Norovirus. Fucking—that shit that took out the Sharks last week? Ilya grits his teeth against another wave of nausea. This is the dumbest thing to ever happen to him. This is ridiculous.

“Okay, bathroom’s all cleaned up.” He lowers himself to Alina’s height. She’s still sobbing, her breath coming in sharp, rapid hitches even when David puts his hand on her back. “Hey kiddo. I know your daddy probably packed another pair of PJs for you. But… I found this and thought you might want it instead.”
He hands Yuna the water bottle and unravels the shirt on his arm. Despite everything, Yuna has to smile. It’s Shane’s old, old Junior Hockey League t-shirt from when he first started. It’s spent years tucked away in the back of his drawer; he didn’t take it when he moved out. He probably hasn’t worn it since he was what, 11 or 12?
“You want it?” David asks softly.
Alina nods, half-leaning on Yuna.shane leaves the kids with yuna and david while he and ilya take a vacation. which works great, until their daughter gets hit with a stomach bug and proves she is very much a hollander about it

"We're together." Shane interrupts, tone flat. It doesn't make his stomach churn to say it out loud. It doesn't make him want to shrink into the uncomfortable plastic chair he's sitting in. "We had a three-day stretch with no games, so I was staying with him."
The officer bristles. He has a nametag, but Shane has no interest in reading it. He seems, overall, unconvinced. Shane supposes if he was a cop who was clearly awful at his job and stuck on the night shift, he'd probably be just as miserable.
"Okay," He sighs, "Let's start again. Tell us what happened, from the beginning."
