Mari Winchester died in a car crash, leaving behind her husband John and two kids Sam and Dean, aged six and ten. Shortly after, John, convinced demons made him crash the car, was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Fifteen years later, Dean meets up with Sam after a long disappearance, and tells him he found their Dad. And he's not crazy. He never was.
Sam gets dragged into Dean's life, apparently hunting monsters and running from the same demons that killed their mother—all the while figuring out if Dean is showing signs of schizophrenia, maintaining some semblance of a relationship with his girlfriend, and running from the law.
