Not only that, but if the Christmas cards sent in the mail being addressed to both of them lovingly by the man's hand were anything to go off of, he was more than certain the man would support their decision to marry and would most definitely say-

“A few times. But I’ve only ever read the translations, not the original version.” Toya sheepishly pulled at the stiff collar of his shirt. “I’ve read Hamlet and Macbeth.”
“Good choices,” Rui says with a nod. “Macbeth is a favorite of mine. But I have to say, I quite enjoy his romantic stories.”
What happens when the outcast alchemist falls in love with the beautiful prince?
(Or: Rui tries to drop hints to Toya by writing cheesy Shakespearean quotes on his hand in English. Toya doesn’t get it until An points it out. Everything spirals from there.)

Having a shared dream was a blessing for Akito. But what goes after that, he pondered, clawing up the question from the depths of his barren self. What's after the end of that dream, after so many joint victories and crushing defeats and struggles and the home they've built for themselves? Would everything have ended, then? Would he be able to stand by Toya's side again? Would they have to stray away, would he have to see how Toya slowly pulls away from his orbit, away from view?
Akito goes moongazing with Toya, and is forced to confront feelings and realizations he'd thought well buried.

They’re sitting at his dinner table, and Toya is trying to explain Akito’s trigonometry review to him to no avail. He’s saying something about angles, but Akito can only think about the way his silver eyes are lit up and the way his voice rises and falls as he speaks and the way his impossibly soft-looking lips curl into a frown as he realizes Akito isn’t listening to him at all. Toya sets the pencil down and tilts his head. “Did you hear anything I said?”
“I—no, not really.”
“What were you thinking about, then?”
You. “Um, practicing,” he lies, trying to ignore how stupid he feels saying it. “You know.”

Touya wonders if he’s misheard for a second, or if he’s actually unconscious and this is all a dream, or if he’s half-unconscious and this is one of those sleep paralysis incidents again (the first time was the Lamp Man). Surely he must be imagining at least some of this, because—
“Aren’t you two dating?” he says.
An blinks. “What?”
Touya doesn't think he's a very good wingman, but in his defense, it's hard to be one when you're trying to help your very smitten and oblivious friend confess to your other equally smitten and oblivious friend. He also doesn't have any union-backed benefits, but that's the lesser of two problems.
