Summary
The city of Yokohama has been plagued by a series of peculiar murders, and to the public's knowledge they ended after the arrest of a culprit who confessed last year. Ranpo Edogawa's interest in the case has fluctuated over time, despite it having already gone to trial. There is just something about it that has continued to bother him. Ranpo, along with his co-investigator and business partner, Yosano Akiko, run their own private investigations agency. Business is good but business is also boring, until something very interesting gets brought into Ranpo's office, and he finds himself up front and center to witness the (second) worst serial killer the city has seen. When an appealing but shady and virtually unknown investigator is brought onto the case, things get even more complicated.

Fyodor's goal has yet to come to fruition, but thankfully, he's been blessed with a long life, leaving him plenty of time to seek out a solution to the world's sin in service to his God. But the death of that Port Mafia boss, Dazai Osamu, has thrown a wrench into his understanding of the universe. Returning to Yokohama after coming up empty through his travels trying to find answers to some of his questions, he takes a walk through a park and comes across something interesting.

Summary
Fyodor had lived for a very long time, long enough to learn that soulmates weren’t once in a lifetime if your lifetime included the fragments of the souls you stole along the way. Whether his fate was always supposed to be his own or not, nobody, least of all him, could say for certain. It had been quite some time since he had met someone who completely fit the bill though, save for one, who unfortunately didn’t seem to accept him most of the times he crossed paths with the various iterations of that one’s soul. Usually the bonds he felt were weak. The same muted connection didn’t seem to affect his other halves though, a situation worthy of pity if they hadn’t been the type of people that they were.
When he met Fukuchi, he knew immediately that this was different.
Fyodor keeps a promise.
