Perhaps, when he had found Billy all those weeks ago, he should've foreseen exactly how the gang would've reacted. He thought he was bringing back another member for the gang. He watched them beat and fry Billy’s wiring. Night after night, Lighter lay in the aftermath of the echoing torture. Night after night, guilt festered in him like black mold. In another life, Lighter would imagine that Billy was found by someone kinder. He'd be taken into a gang that cherished him. Billy’s name would be renown across the desert.
That life was not this one.
And, all that the robot had since endured was entirely Lighter's fault.
in a different life, it was lighter who found billy's body in a hollow and chose to wake him up. from there, lighter's world turns upside down as he is forced to make the right choices for the both of them.

And, what a painful, lonely fall it would be.

“Why do you ask?” he starts,” Did you want me to teach you, or something?” Atsushi says this in a half-joking manner, but something about the way Akutagawa immediately goes red tells him that that was the exact thought on his mind too.
“Huh?” Akutagawa blurts out, covering his mouth with his fist as he coughs. Atsushi just chuckles softly and scoots closer ever so slightly to the other male.
“Well, you seemed kind of upset that you hadn’t had your first kiss yet, so I mean,” it’s at this point that Atsushi begins to feel flustered,” I could… teach you. If you want, I mean.”

Summary
At the bottom of this particular window was the edge of the port, meaning they would land in the saltwater below unless they managed to redirect their fall towards the side of the building. The inferno was crackling from behind, and Atsushi could feel the heat tickling his back grow more and more intense with each passing second.
“Okay, we’re using Rashomon to get down, right?” It was a rhetorical question, of course.
“What? No. I’ve used Rashomon enough today. Use the Beast to get us down.” Atsushi briefly shifted his gaze towards the mafioso beside him, crisp, golden eyes narrowing at his response.
“Rashomon doesn’t rip your clothes to shreds! Just use your Ability!”
A wheezing cough left Akutagawa’s pale lips, “I said no!”
“Akutagawa, we don’t have time for arguing! C’mon, just—”
“Jinko!—”
Atsushi felt embers dance across the back of his shirt, and without warning, he locked arms with his partner and leapt from the windowsill, Akutagawa falling right behind him.

“You remember it, don’t you?” He tips Akutagawa’s chin up with the end of the blade. Akutagawa allows it, too dizzy to resist, and meets a gaze that is almost sympathetic. “Dying?”
Akutagawa shudders. The memory is already fading, like trying to hold water in the cup of his hands. All that is left is fragments. The sting of the blade. The sinking sensation of death. The darkness, as black as Dazai’s eyes, empty, aching with regret.
In which instead of dying, Akutagawa cuts through time with Rashoumon and drags Atsushi along for the ride.
