    “Anderson.”

    “Is that what you’re going by nowadays?”

    Merlin looks skyward and closes his eyes in a bid for the peace that eludes him so, huffing out a sigh.

    “Lizard man,” he greets. 

    “Hello, young warlock.”

    Merlin hums, scuffing his shoes against the dirt at the side of the ‘road’. 

    “’S’pose you want me to come home for Christmas?”

    “Would it be so terrible?”

    Merlin snorts. “Right, then, wha’d’you want?”

    “I’ve found your Destiny.”

    Merlin is immortal, even if his memory isn't. He gets flashes, brief impressions, but that's it. He knows Kilgarrah's been around the whole time, and every few decades or so he calls Merlin and tells him he's found his destiny. Merlin can never quite remember what it is, but he goes along, and this time that means partnering and protecting a prat of a detective from the supernatural threats that he doesn't realise he faces.
