    Summary

"That depends. Are you tapping your fingers because it's a beat, or are you tapping your fingers because the car is breathing again?"

Etho doesn't bother glancing back as he responds, clipped, "The stoplights have a pulse."

(or; Lizzie has opinions about the water supply, Etho and Joel come home from a work trip, and nothing of note happens.)

    Summary

Drift can feel a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. She turns to Avid, who is looking at her expectantly. When she shakes the envelope over the table, there is a clatter, and many, many small ruby-red pieces of rosygold come falling out.

“Avid.” Drift says triumphantly. “I think we have a case."

He lets out a little whooping sound.

(OR: The year is 1899. London has long since been consumed by the darkness of the Neath. The Unterzee stretches out like a hungry mouth; far to the South, the Ministry of Public affairs build a god; and in the North, something sleeps and dreams and waits, patient and inevitable, to be awoken.

However, this is not that story. Drift is an amateur detective working the streets of London with an amnesiac roommate and very little hope for the future. But when the mysterious Apo Apokuna contacts her asking to find a missing ally, things start to get much, much more serious.

Fear is one thing. Bravery is quite another. But if she wants to stay alive and stay human, Drift is going to have to figure it out- and quick. Because there are some things that cannot be changed.

And there are some reckonings that cannot be avoided.)

    Summary

In the aftermath of Oakhurst, Abolish returns to work, but finds himself joined by two very familiar faces. "Done with those lunatics," he definitely was not. Still, he's got a job to do, and he's going to stick at it, even with two divorced-situationship/whatever-the-hell vampires flanking him. Abolish can be professional about the whole thing. His two new coworkers, however...

AU in which Owen and Legs both survive VSMP and join Abolish in the shadow organisation. Neither are coping with working with the other in a remotely normal fashion.

    Summary

“Wherever you go, I follow, my lady.”
Apokuna had said it so simply, so seriously, after Cherri had wandered too close to the outer gates weeks ago. No teasing, no dramatics, just a promise delivered like an unbreakable fact.
Cherri had laughed then, waved it off like it meant nothing.
Now it echoed in her head, looping like a song she couldn’t stop humming. Each repetition made her heart flutter just a little more, made the balcony feel a little too far away from the training yard below.
Her gaze lingered on Apokuna once more.

And that was when an idea, terrible, wonderful, absolutely reckless, sparked to life.

    Summary

The stranger’s clothes look a little light for the weather, she’s thinking. The stranger looks— like a very skin-and-bones stranger, those deep red eyes a bit more sunken into her face than could be strictly described as healthy-looking.

“And— you did pin me to a tree,” Gem feels compelled to add.

“Wha— after you lunged at me!” the stranger says. “That’s hardly fair. I’m supposed to just let you skewer me?”

“I wasn’t gonna skewer you,” Gem says. She wasn’t. She can be nice and reasonable to trespassing strangers! She just prefers to have those nice and reasonable conversations with swords at necks, sometimes, just in case.
