“Wait, wait!”
Mike breathes out slowly, like she’ll scare Will away if she’s too loud. “Please. Please don’t leave.”
Will is facing her again, and—and Mike feels like she’s never been more present than right now, a foot apart in Jennifer’s tiny bathroom, and simultaneously like she’s on a whole different plane of existence. It’s so small in the bathroom that she’s been leaning heavily against the counter to make room; looking up at Will, who’s usually a few inches shorter, is making her feel lightheaded.
Mike bites her lip and whispers what she hopes will make Will stay.
“I’m sorry.”
She sucks in a breath. “I’ve been an asshole. Mostly to you, which is so much worse than if I’d just been an asshole to your girlfriend. But I’m sorry for that too. I’ll be better. I promise.”
Mike looks down, feeling preemptively embarrassed for what she’s about to say. “I wasn’t joking when I said I was jealous. You’ve spent all night with her, and I barely know anybody here. I know it’s stupid because I literally live with you, but I missed you tonight.”
Or: It's 1993, Mike is in a riot grrrl band, Will is being confusing and distant, and then everything implodes.

As Will begins to find comfort in self-destruction, Billy is where it leads him.

....are you sure it was just a crush? ." Mike was speaking again, hesitantly, and he looked like he was asking the most horrifying thing his brain will allow.
Will felt a jolt, deep in his soul. He turned away and closed his eyes quickly to bite back some of the pain in his heart.
"Yeah I'm sure. It was nothing Mike, just a stupid coming of age crush - gone before it even had time to leave a mark." He swallowed, hoping Mike wouldn't hear the wobble in his voice.
Mike was still standing, frozen on the stairs so Will forced himself to half turn back again as he started to walk up. "Seriously Mike, don't even think about it any more, I don't."
And he walked out of the basement door into the hallway to join the others.
Mike was left on the stairs. Hope dead in his eyes. A single tear begging to be released. His heart aching in his chest. He was too late.

The knight's freckles were more prominent than Mike’s, and his skin was slightly more tanned. Pink dusted his cheeks, as if slightly sunburned or permanently blushing. And he wore silver armor, decorated with a dark red heart engraved in the middle. It was ornate, but it was weathered, lived-in. Will stepped back, his face burning. “N-no. YOU aren’t real. You’re–I painted you.”
“William, you have painted me a thousand times. My features look divine when painted by your masterful hand.” He smirked, stepping toward Will again and caressing his face with the back of his hand. “Where are your robes?” He paused, brow furrowing once more. “You look…different."

Only a few days after defeating Vecna, a rogue swarm of demobats tries to kidnap and kill Mike. Will, in the heat of the moment, uses his powers to destroy them, and accidentally opens a portal between worlds, but not the Upside Down or the Abyss. Summary
Dean did a lot of thinking about when and how he would get Cas back. Months of it, actually, stretching into a year, because while Sam and Eileen were settling into their new lives, Dean was stuck. He was stuck in a faraway corner of the bunker, dark and empty and hollow, ringing with the sound of a vibrating phone.
So when he falls to his knees in that same room, exhausted, hurting, breathless, and he feels a hand on his shoulder and looks up to see Cas, he realizes that he doesn't have a single clue about what to do now. Getting Cas out had been easy--actually, it'd been the opposite of that--but the planning of it, the methodical desperation of one attempt after the other had been a familiar rhythm. It'd been soothing almost, solid, something to focus on that wasn't Cas's eyes, watery and jubilant in a way Dean hadn't ever seen that up close on anyone, let alone Cas.
And now Cas is pulling him to his feet, and Dean's stumbling, and he instinctually grabs Cas's arm, and his hand lights up with a fire that he isn't prepared for.
"Hello, Dean."
