Summary
Matt knows who Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews are. He’s talked to them, he’s held conversations with them. They’re nice -- Auston is more of a class clown than Matt would have thought, and Mitch has no sense of personal space.
He just can’t relate to them.
He thinks back to the locker room where Leo Komarov singled him out and asked to see his birth certificate because there was no way he was 19. The guys had laughed, and so had Matt. But it rings differently in his head now, when he’s out with all of them.

It has been three days since the Imperator rode through and brought hell down on the Keepers of the Pass. “A few vehicles following” turned out to be the fighting forces of Citadel, Bullet Farm and Gastown combined. Far more than the rock-fall could stop. More than she negotiated for. A hundred warriors running un-tolled through the canyon. Most of a day of quiet, and then the frecking War Rig had roared back through, bringing the pursuit with her, all of it finally wrecking at the arch, man and machine crashed to pieces against the rock, against each other.

Billy leaned forward a little, watching as Teddy found a felt-tipped pen and began searching for a slip of paper. The napkins were all balled up and messy; the placemats were splattered with gravy. "Erm," Billy said, half afraid Teddy would change his mind.
"Here," Teddy finally said, turning toward him. He caught Billy's hand between his own and turned it over, palm-up, his fingers calloused and warm against Billy's smooth skin. He smelled like…like something amazing.
Oh, oh, wow, Billy thought dazedly, squeezing his knees together against the liquid rush of heat low in his belly; the glide of the pen against his palm was the most arousing thing he'd ever felt. The sight of Teddy's golden hair falling into his face made him want to do something incredibly stupid, like lean forward and kiss him, or throw his arms around his neck, or… Or something. Anything.
