Summary
The Winter Soldier is dangerous. Since his rescue from HYDRA, SHIELD have been low-key trying to figure out how to handle the complex case of James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, an Omega with super serum and a volatile disposition. Due to frequent Heats and a lack of coping mechanisms for dealing with the free world in modern times, it's deemed that the best course of action is to assign a Support Alpha... except Barnes has systematically and sometimes violently rejected every Alpha put in his path.
Enter Steve Rogers, trained (if lapsed) Support Omega as a last ditch attempt to resolve the issue.

During a raid on an AIM base, the Avengers find a pair of cryotubes in a basement laboratory. Steve shakes his head quickly, too quickly. His head rattles a bit too hard as he hands the notepad back. “They can’t. No.”
Stark mouths something so sarcastic Steve can practically hear it, even without his hearing. “Oh, yes they can.”Or... Steve was completely deaf before the serum; there was nothing it could do to fix his hearing. And as it turns out, none of the history books ever thought to mention that Captain America was deaf.

Bruce's heart leaps into his throat when Clark raises his head and looks up at Bruce with wide, horrified eyes. Clark’s hand covers his mouth, but there’s—blood, hot and bright red, streaming through the cracks of his fingers. Another round of violent coughing wracks his chest and Bruce jerks into motion and lunges forwards to catch him around the shoulders before he hits the dirt.
After a moment, Clark’s hands—they’re shaking, Bruce notices—drop from his mouth and Clark stares down at them in bewildered horror.
“Bruce,” he whispers, with blood painting his lips red and dripping down his chin.

Bruce is here. Clark can’t see him, can’t hear him very well – but he’s here and he will know what to do. He will keep Clark safe.
“Bruce? Bruce?” In an instant Clark is latching to the cape of Batman’s suit, hand following the fabric until it reaches his throat, then the stubbled jawline and accompanying frown of Bruce’s mouth. He can’t bring himself to remove his hand from the man’s face, the warm skin only thing keeping him tethered to his own body.
“Yes, Clark. Give me a sitrep.” His voice is as serious as ever, and Clark latches onto the command as the only constant and familiar thing right now, even if his own words fail him.
“I can’t – the purple goo, it’s, can’t see, burns, Bruce it burns so much – “
There’s a gloved hand in his hair now, brushing a stray strand back. His hair is stuck to his forehead by all the sweat. Clark doesn’t sweat. “Okay, okay Clark. You’re going to be okay. C’mon, can you stand?” There’s a shoulder beneath his arm before he can answer, and Clark is glad for it.
