Summary
After gifting Shadow his den so he has somewhere safe to stay while on the run, Sonic promises to keep Shadow’s fugitive identity and their growing friendship a secret in order to protect him.
Meanwhile, the Wachowski's under strict orders from G.U.N. to report any sightings of Shadow's whereabouts, and are clueless to Sonic’s escapades with their enemy. But, his plan to keep both sides of his life separate were dashed when Tails found out about Shadow and Sonic's relationship by himself, and now it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the family catch on, too.
Sonic is caught between his loyalty to Shadow and his duty to protect the family who saved him. He’s faced with the decision to betray Shadow's trust by revealing that his secret is compromised and lose what they have forever, or jeopardise Tom and Maddie’s safety by staying silent and intentionally deceiving G.U.N., risking everything they've built.
All Sonic has to do is maintain the balance without tipping the scales over the other, which shouldn't be an issue so long as he can keep his (probably, maybe, definitely romantic) feelings for Shadow under wraps.
What's the worst that can happen?

Thirty-five year old Dazai is devastating. His hair is long enough to gather in a loose knot at the base of his neck, sometimes long enough to plait, and it’s lighter than it used to be. Today, he wears it tied in a silk ribbon. He’s no taller than he was at twenty nor any heavier but he’s a brighter character, no longer weighed down by the blood on his hands or the weight of his thoughts and it shows in his body language and smile. Time has done you good, Chuuya thinks, sparing a quick glance at the hand holding the champagne flute to see that the bandages run only up to his mid-forearm. The last time they saw one-another was winter two years ago during a cross-over with a case from the ADA and Port Mafia, and Chuuya had been too much of a coward to tell him that he looks so much better now he’s happy before and after sex in the back of a rental Dazai had hired for a stake-out mission.

Chuuya wishes he’d denied the silent challenge Dazai had posed that first time they met in Cone Street, but Chuuya’s too proud for his own good, and chases after every single bit of bait Dazai offers like a starving dog. Chuuya knows he’s ruined for the rest of his life because no one else can ever hope to measure up to Dazai; who left car bombs and forgets birthdays and stains Chuuya’s clothes with careless spills of wine; who never said I love you even if Chuuya can see it in the way he watches him.
Chuuya hates that he relies on him. Dazai is skin and bones and death personified: wherever he walks he trails a path of anarchy, but Chuuya wants him so bad it hurts. They’re chaos with one another but worse off without, he thinks, even if neither will admit to needing one another’s company.
