In the hunt for a legendary treasure, Blackbeard & his crew are cursed to become selkies, only able to transform back into their human selves one night every seven years. There is allegedly a way to break the curse, however after fourteen years, the crew are no closer to figuring out how to do so, with the exception of one: Fang.
After hearing how Fang broke his curse, Ed plans to trap a stranger into taking his sealskin so he can kill them and be free of this wretched curse. However the person who takes it is the last person Ed ever thinks he can go through with killing - the kind-hearted blonde man who rows out every day to talk to his seal friend, clueless to the fact that he's been charming infamous pirate Blackbeard.

Ed’s managed to get one of his legs out from between Stede’s, pulling him in in just a way that he’s slowly grinding against Stede’s thigh. “Or…” he says, drawing out the word, “maybe we just make out a little more?”
“Yeah,” Stede’s mouth is saying before his brain can even formulate an argument. “Like, I mean, what’s the worst that can happen?” He very stubbornly does not listen to the part of himself screaming that the worst that can happen is he gets his heart broken.
