one of my all time favs, arguably one of the best in the ship. read this in the school bathrooms and had a good feeling about it from the first word... or maybe i should say a quiet, anticipatory, yet raw feeling, because that's how the whole fic felt. like dim lighting and finding comfort in an unfamiliar place. the author really has an eye for the finer details, especially bringing them back in relevant scenes (sugar!!! granules!!! on!!! lips!!!) and that's something i order in writing. beautiful work

When their eyes meet over the ice, Satoru’s breath hitches in his throat. They ride out the rest of the momentum together, but even when it’s safe, Satoru doesn’t let go. The really weird thing is, Suguru doesn’t let go either.
Staring at each other with wide eyes, neither of them seems to notice as they slow to a stop that should feel awkward but simply isn’t somehow. Satoru finds his gaze lingering on the rosy pink hue of flushed cheeks, on full lips parting around a cloud of ragged breaths, on wisps of damp hair that kiss the corners of eyes like candied almonds.
It’s the realisation that he’s always thought Suguru looks pretty in the cold that causes Satoru to drop his hand as though burned.
When Satoru challenges Suguru on the ice, his heart is taken for a spin in ways he didn’t expect in this fully illustrated story.

...words can't describe how absolutely gorgeous everything about this work is from the plot to the characters to the writing to EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! everything was written perfectly and the author really put time and work into understanding the world and the characters and it's all such a joy to read (even though i cried in almost every chapter). getting blown away by books is rare for me nowadays so i cherish it especially when i do, and this is definitely in my top 5 favourite pieces of writing of all time. thank you so much to the author, definitely will reread
