He let himself fall to his knees, predicting it would be a long search. To start off, why would a Hero acquire such information? This surely should be owned by the police, or something. Not a hero.
Reki expected anything to be in here. Anything but a whole list of people he knows really well, because they're all inside with him at the lab. Every single kid on this list was reported missing on their 10th birthday, and all of them lack an ability. Just like Reki.
“Reki Kyan, ability unknown...” He mumbled the written stuff to himself, rushing to get to the important part. “Reported missing on August 8th by Masae Kyan.”
Which only would make sense if... His family was alive.
Or,
After his family's death, Adam trains Reki to be undefeatable, offering him an ability. Just so that, one day, Reki could have his sweet revenge against the Heroes who left his family to die. He only didn't expect to find out that, after all, his family did not die while he was trying to kill Cherry Blossom — one of the strongest Heroes.
Amongst the many lies Adam has told him, was his own story.

Summary
Ever since losing his family, Reki got used to the pain. Sure, his foster family sucked and there was an emptiness in his chest that grew everyday and threatened to make him disappear, but he managed to stay alive for the sake of his foster brother, Miya, working hard at Dope Sketch and saving money for when they finally managed to leave that hell hole.
Langa didn't know Okinawa, but there was no snow, no sign of his father and, soon after they got there, no mother either. He'd never thought he'd end up an orphan, specially not one in a strange country he knew nothing about, strange culture, strange people. It all felt surreal...
And then they met.

Summary
Reki came up with two conclusions:
ONE—that he could very much be delusional, but the ‘time travel’ theory was more than likely to be true;
TWO—Langa would not die a second time. Reki would make sure of it.
After Hasegawa Langa’s mysterious death in December, Reki finds himself thrust back to April—eight months into the past—before he can figure out how, when, or why.
In a cruel race against fate, Reki has to fight tooth and nail for Langa to survive an otherwise guaranteed end.
Problem? Reki has no idea how he died in the first place.

Rumi looks down. “Your soul,” she whispers mournfully, enraptured by the blue light trickling out of his chest. “It’s beautiful.”
Jinu smiles.
Gently, he presses his forehead against hers. Rumi jolts, eyes widening, but to his relief, she doesn’t pull away.
“My soul,” he echoes softly. “It’s yours, now.”
Rumi opens her mouth, but no words escape her as she gapes at him. A tear cascades down her cheek.
“It’s mine to give, and yours to take, if you’ll have me.” His vision is blurring, and so he lets his eyes fall shut, allowing the darkness to encompass him. He forces himself to believe that the lull of sleep is accepted of his own volition.
His cheeks tingle. Rumi is holding onto his face. “No, no, no—” she grits out. Her voice is growing distant. “Stop. You can’t do this to me.” The words rush out of her in a frenzy, full of haste and distress. “Jinu.”
“Rumi,” he responds in a broken murmur. “Thank you.”
She was right. Gwi-Ma could be defeated.
He should have listened to her.
(Or: A fix-it/time-travel au where Jinu goes back to the very beginning of the story and sets things right.)

By all accounts, Ladybug--and, by extension, Marinette Dupain-Cheng--should have been dead. She shouldn't have been laying in bed, wrapped in pink blankets and surrounded by pink walls littered with pinned designs, with her mother's call to get ready for school.
