At the very least, Shanks still being unconscious means his Voice is quiet, hardly more than a faint whisper to catch anyone’s attention. It means he isn’t trying to help, nevermind the fact he can hardly put one foot in front of the other right now, let alone move with the speed and precision it will take to successfully slip out of the Holy Land. Shamrock has been in training to become a Knight of God, to become Father’s right hand, practically all twelve years his life - a handful of paltry swordsmanship and haki lessons from uncouth pirates can hardly measure up to that, no matter what inane statements Shanks will insist upon saying out loud at the least opportune times.

“Of course you can, kid,” Roger said, an easy grin stretching across his face, his large hand clasping comfortingly on Shanks’ small shoulder. “And who said anything about ‘doing it all over again’? You didn’t spend your first life worrying about the ending did you?”
“Course not!” Shanks said, affronted.
“Then why would you this time? Don’t think of it as a do over, this is still your life Shanks! So keep living your life without regrets- and if you do have past regrets- Well,” Roger shrugged, throwing a wink at him before glancing at the waves with a conspiratorial smile. “Here’s your chance to fix them.”
Or Shanks travels back in time, from the end to the beginning and oh so many years in between.
Or the Shanks being BAMF as he saves the world time travel fic we all deserve.
