Those lilac eyes, those irises that closely resemble flower petals, oh so mesmerizing, but there's something different about them. They don't shine the same way they do when Iso looks at him. His eyes are dull, despite their vibrant color. That bright smile he always receives whenever Gekko is with him, replaced by a neutral expression he remembers during Iso's first few weeks at Valorant Protocol.
"Iso?"
There's confusion in his expression, and Gekko doesn't like the frown he receives upon trying to reach out to him.
Remorsefully he says, "I'm sorry," as he takes a step back from him, and there's a weird pain in his eyes that matches the one Gekko's feels in his heart. "I don't... I don't remember you."

Summary
In one corner of the world, grief has a tight hold over the heart of one. It suffocates him, prevents him from carrying on the memory that is Zhao Yu with all the love that exists in his broken heart. The grief chokes him, numbs him to his very core. Days look bleak, dreary, black and white, for how does Mateo live without the very person he fought so hard to protect, fought so hard to return him home and the person he loves unconditionally, lost memories be damned. He feels lost, a darkness at the end of the tunnel with no light to be found.
In another corner of the world, sadness sits on an invisible thrown in the middle of his chest amidst the whirlwind of emotions surrounding it. Trapped in an unknown location with someone who took his left eye and potentially tried to kill him, everything feels like it's gone to shit. Nothing feels the same anymore. Zhao Yu feels trapped in an invisible cage, locked away in the shadow that is the Scions of Hourglass, despite the organization no longer a threat looming over him. Yet, without Mateo, his life feels unlike his own.
In the aftermath of Zhao Yu's death, changes have occurred for both of them. Perhaps, love persevering can help both of them heal.

Shouta Aizawa thinks there’s something off about Midoriya Izuku. He’s been thinking that since he saw the boy in his classroom, hunched over a seat, making himself as small as possible. Elbows tucked in close, calloused knuckles, and darting eyes.A crooked nose, the kind of odd, subtle little twist that gives the boy’s large green eyes a quirky flare. The kind of nose that was broken one too many times and hadn’t been set properly often enough.
That was not the behavior of someone with a ridiculously overpowered Quirk. That was especially not the behavior he’d seen during the exam footage, the footage of a green-haired teenager who was flashy and open and seemed to radiate power.
Illogical.

Or: Midoriya gets into vigilantism a little too early, with a Quirk more like his uncle's than his father's, and, frankly, half the time he's just along for the ride.

“Obviously,” Stendhal-san said, leaning back on his arms. “Quirks are merely tools; plenty of heroes have perfect quirks and not an ounce of heroism in their blood. You’re already more of a hero than numbers 2 through 10, combined.”
Izuku could feel the tears slipping down his cheeks, sobbing at the words he had been yearning to hear for so long.
“Did they- did they not say that?” Stendhal-san asked, startled by Izuku’s reaction.

Izuku steps towards the other teen, holding his hand out to shake, “I’m Midoriya Izuku by the way. We haven’t officially met yet, right? I don’t remember seeing you at the Entrance Exam?”
The blue-haired boy pauses, studies his hand uncertainly before shrugging. “Shirakumo Oboro,” he introduces in return, hand phasing right through Izuku’s when he goes to return the handshake. Shirakumo doesn’t seem surprised by it, but Izuku whips his hand back when the intense chill climbs up his arm.

Midoriya Izuku is medically quirkless, not technically homeless, perpetually exhausted and doing his damned best despite it all. He also sees spirits, which might be cool if not for the fact that a) no one else does, b) they really don't like him very much, and c) he's pretty sure the heroes now think he's a villain working for the League.
Aizawa Shota just wants to take down Overhaul, rescue Eri, keep his students alive, get some rest, and find out how this Deku kid knows things he absolutely should not know about his personal life and the Shie Hassaikai case.
Unless Nighteye's right, and the kid really is a villain.

Izuku stared down at the candle in his hand. The wax was melting around the base and warming his hand through the paper cover. It might not be burning, but he wished it was. He didn’t want to be here. Actually, that was a lie, he wanted to be here but he wished this was a regular monthly meeting instead of a vigil. This was the third vigil he’d been to this year, and it was only February.
Last night, a six year old girl named Asami Sato took her life by swallowing a bottle of her mother’s pills. She did this only two hours after her own mother told her she should never have been born.
Asami Sato was born quirkless. She was six, and had not developed a quirk at four like the majority of the population.
Now, Asami Sato was an Orchid. A beautiful, fleeting memory.

OR: Izuku is quirkless, and All Might doesn't see his potential for heroics. His last effort to become a hero gets him accepted into UA as the first quirkless student - but the universe just keeps trying to break his spirit.

Izuku midorya was kidnapped by the military when he was four years old and forced into brutal torture and training in order to become the perfect soldier, they succeeded, he has a powerful and dangerous quirk, amazing combat skills, he feels nothing and doesn’t argue with orders. There’s nothing he can’t do. And now izuku has been sent to an undercover mission at UA where he almost immediately sets off some alarm bells in the teachers minds everything from his uncomfortably straight posture, the way he blindly obeys orders, little to no social skills to his incredible combat skills equal to those of most of his teachers and the fact the boy despite 14 is absolutely littered in scars, some of which look like gun shot wounds. The boy was a walking red flag.
An the teachers at UA were going to figure out why the boy was the way he was if it was the last thing they did.

“Same thing, isn’t it? Either way, you don’t follow the law,” Midoriya hums, his smile only widening. “You could murder a man and no one would ever know. They wouldn’t care, either. Do you have blood on your hands like me, Shouta Aizawa?”
Or, Shouta Aizawa is a bleeding heart, especially when he sees a broken kid. When he finds three broken kids with a murder each under their belt - well, he fakes a program to get them out of custody. And then it becomes a reality.

After a failed suicide attempt, years of bullying, and his mother's death, Izuku Midoriya doesn't think he has any option besides joining the League of Villains. After all, foster care is no place for a quirkless kid like him. Plus, working as a hacker and analyst for the League doesn't sound like it would be too bad. But, after meeting a hurt little girl in Overhaul's headquarters, Toga and Izuku can't just sit back and take orders from Shigaraki anymore. With some careful consideration, Izuku figures a villain reformation program at UA doesn't sound horrible, even if it means having to put up with Bakugou.

At age ten Izuku was kidnapped and he became just another statistic to the world. To himself though, he became a monster.
Izuku went through four years of hell courtesy of All for One, but he survived. Finally free of the torture he was put through Izuku is declared a finished product and is given to Shigaraki to help with his plans. The issue is Izuku might not be as brainwashed as the villains seem to think he is. But that's alright, Izuku just needs to survive one day at a time because no one is coming to save him. He's completely and totally given up.
That is, until UA comes into the picture and he begins to question if he can really keep on being a villain and hurting his new friends.
